Josh Allen, Bunchy Stallings win SEC Player of the Week Awards

Congratulations are in order for Josh Allen and Bunchy Stallings, who were both honored by the SEC today for their performances vs. Florida. Allen won SEC Defensive Player of the Week, while Stallings won Offensive Lineman of the Week.

Allen had five tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one quarterback sack, one fumble caused, one pass breakup and one quarterback hurry. He sacked Feleipe Franks on the game’s final play, causing a fumble that Kentucky ran back for a touchdown. He also had a key pass breakup on a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter.

Bunchy had nine knockdown blocks, zero missed assignments, zero penalties, and didn’t allow a quarterback sack or pressure. He graded at 91 percent and his 23 blocks at the point of attack helped Kentucky rush for 303 yards. One of the best plays of the game was his crushing block that allowed Benny Snell to get 20 yards on 3rd-and-one with 2:30 left.

“Bunchy did a heck of a job,” Stoops said at today’s presser. “He was very physical, set the tone right from the start. We got good movement up front, and that always starts everything, the movement inside. There are some plays that will get pointed out from the group. It starts with a mentality, a physicality about you, and I felt like they were that way from the first snap to the last.”

Congrats, boys.

If you watch that play, everyone on the line held their own, or dominated their man. Left side put their man on the ground too.
Florida’s problem is the DL. They were out manned, out hustled, out physicaled all night long. This has got to be one of the best OLs we have had at UK, in a very long while.
Those guys are the Big Blue Wrecking Crew.
