Jordan Swindle insists the quarterback competition is still a competition

I think it’s safe to say most of us assumed the “quarterback competition” between Patrick Towles and Drew Barker is a competition in name only, Stoops’ method of keeping both guys on their toes headed into fall camp; not so, according to Jordan Swindle, who said repeatedly today that the competition is legit, and the job is up for grabs.

“I feel great about both the guys they’re rotating right now, Patrick and Drew. I feel they both progressed great during the spring. They have great arms, they’ve both got the playbook down pat,” Swindle said.

So, it is a competition? Like for real?

“It is a competition. I mean, on the depth chart released the other day, it was Drew Barker or Pat Towles. So it’s either/or. It’s not one or the other.”

Okay. So how are both QBs doing?

“I think Patrick has looked great. So has Drew. So they’re both battling for that spot. They’re both very competent and they know the offense and they both have great arms, so I’m excited to see what they can do.”

Sorry, Jordan, I’m still not buying it.
