In news that will make Freddie Maggard very happy, Jon Toth has accepted an invitation to the 2017 Reese’s Senior Bowl.
UK’s senior center is considered one of the best in the country, playing in 48 career games with a nation-high 47 consecutive starts. Toth and the rest of Kentucky’s offensive line helped the Cats’ running game reach new heights this season. UK’s running backs are averaging a remarkable 241.2 yards per game, the best mark in 40 years and 5.5 yards per rushing attempt, on track to be a school record.
Off the field, Toth is a three-time SEC academic honor roll member and is on track to graduate in December with a degree in mechanical engineering. He is a nominee for the National Football Foundation’s Scholar-Athlete Award, is an All-America and All-Southeastern Conference candidate and is on the watch list for the Rimington Trophy, given annually to the nation’s most outstanding center.
The Reese’s Senior Bowl takes place at 1:30 CT/2:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017 at the Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala. ESPN2 and the NFL Network will broadcast live from the practices and the contest will be nationally-televised on the NFL Network.
