JJ Weaver’s father murdered in Georgia shooting

UK Football

Tragedy has struck J.J. Weaver’s family. A UK spokesperson confirmed the redshirt freshman linebacker’s father was murdered early Wednesday morning.

Albany, GA police are investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of 44-year-old Terrance Weaver. WFXL reports one other person was injured in the incident that took place just before 2:30 a.m. Three people have been arrested in connection with the shooting while one suspect remains at large.

Weaver was born in Ft. Lauderdale and moved to Louisville as an adolescent. At Moore High School he became a highly sought after four-star prospect, recruited by Vince Marrow to Kentucky over Louisville, Miami and Purdue. Weaver redshirted and played in three games in 2019, recording five tackles, one for loss, and a quarterback hurry against Vanderbilt. He’s projected to be a significant contributor for Brad White’s defense this fall.

Weaver’s family remains in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

JJ dont know if u will read this but condolences from the big blue nation and you and your family will be in my prayers. It is very difficult to lose a close loved one suddenly. We fans root for our players and everything but at big blue nation we care about the person not just the player. Good luck and lean on your support

My dad died suddenly and unexpectedly when I was at UK, and I really struggled with that for awhile. Hopefully he has a good support system to help him get through this. The structure provided by being a part of the football team might help.

Prayers to JJ and his family! This world is full of savage-a$$ed people. I’m not sure what to think anymore about all of the violence. It gets harder and harder to try to find the words to explain the savagery to my 17 year old daughter, as things seem to be getting worse by the day. Rest in peace Mr Weaver.

Then there’s the story about 5 people beating an old lady, leaving, then coming back, dowsing her with lighter fluid, and setting her on fire. Big surprise that she did not survive. The world has gone truly mad.

Prayers for you and your family JJ.
