Jimbo Fisher compares Benny Snell to Emmitt Smith

Benny Snell is quickly asserting himself as one of the best running backs in college football, and yesterday, Jimbo Fisher compared him to one of the greatest to ever play the game. The Texas A&M coach said Benny’s hard running style reminds him of Emmitt Smith, the NFL’s all-time leading rusher.

“He reminds me of the way Emmitt used to run. Emmitt had all the big plays and all that, but Emmitt made yards on everything he did. You know what I’m saying? Back in the day when you really watched him, and you think, ‘Well, they got him,’ at the end of the day, he’d have 25 carries for about 160. Where did that come from? It’s just constantly moving the chains. He’s strong and powerful and all of a sudden, he breaks out. He’s very patient. He finds space in places there aren’t space, where there shouldn’t be. It’s going to be a huge challenge.”

Fisher couldn’t stop praising Benny yesterday, and told reporters that even if you stop him, you have to watch out for Terry Wilson.

“I’ve never seen a guy that can take a one yard run that looks like a one-yard run and all of a sudden it’s eight,” Fisher said of Benny. “Their offensive line does a great job inside blocking. He finds holes, wiggles and all of a sudden, boom, he’s out there for a big play. Just constantly competing in how he makes yards. And what Kentucky does at quarterback is very dynamic and explosive. You have to keep leverage on [Terry Wilson], he can run. You get caught up in that run game and they throw the deep ball over your head. In the passing game, they do what they have to, they understand what their team is.

Texas A&M has the SEC’s best rushing defense, holding opponents to 85 rushing yards per game, so Benny will have his work cut out for him on Saturday. Thankfully, there’s nothing he loves more than a challenge.

Buttering them up. Don’t listen to them CATS! You are a touchdown underdog. The other teams dissed you, but keep the mindset that NOBODY believes in you except YOU!!!

I have had this as one of three losses at the start of the season. I think the defense keeps it close but even as good as Benny is AM has a good defensive front. This will be the game Terry’s going to have to throw the ball well enough to spread the defense and unload the box.
