Jamin Davis should have drove a Brink’s truck to UK Pro Day. The UK linebacker was printing money during every drill at Nutter Field House.

When the UK linebacker initially entered the NFL Draft, foregoing his final year of collegiate eligibility, many pegged Davis as a mid-round selection, falling anywhere between the third and fifth rounds. Since then his stock has soared, vaulting all the way into the first round of prominent mock drafts. Today Davis is making those NFL Draft experts look awfully smart.

In the first drill at UK Pro Day, the 6-3 1/2, 234-pound athlete completely cleared the sticks in the vertical jump. After extending the measuring apparatus, Davis completed a 42-inch vertical leap. Only one other player posted a higher vertical leap at last year’s NFL Combine. He doesn’t just jump high, Davis jumps far, posting and 11’0″ broad jump.

The times can be a little off when stopwatches are used, but you can’t fudge the length of a jump. Frankly, it’s insane to watch a person that large jump this high.

Of course, that wasn’t he craziest thing Jamin did all day. When he made his way over to the 40-yard dash, Davis was running speeds typically only seen by wide receivers.

His second attempt was even faster, unofficially posting a 4.37 in his final sprint. It would have bee the fastest time of any linebacker at the 2020 NFL Combine.

This is the part where I remind KSR readers that lasers are used to measure times at the NFL Combine, a much more accurate tool than a coach with a stopwatch. Nevertheless, even if Davis was a hair slower than the posted unofficial times, he still exceeded lofty expectations at UK Pro Day and punched his ticket into the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Rightly so, this coaching staff has been getting more and more credit for player development… but it’s STILL not enough. Stoops and his crew are absolutely crushing it. We don’t realize how good we have it. Can’t wait for fall!!!!

It’s time to give Stoops a big four-door Cadillac and Cal a cigarette lighter.

Right? Because stoops has had SO much more success in Lexington.

Honestly you could make the argument that stoops has had more relative success than cal (relative meaning if you consider the history of the football vs basketball programs). Basketball is a blue blood program, cal came in and started winning again. Football had been a bottom feeding sec program and stoops came in and won big for the first time.

Jamin should really get in the gym and try to get that body fat percentage down before football season starts again.
