Jager Burton will announce his commitment at KSBar and Grille

Kentucky football’s top recruiting target will announce his decision at KSBar and Grille tomorrow evening.

Jager Burton, Kentucky’s No. 1 overall prospect in the class of 2021, has scheduled his commitment for Sunday, August 30 at 6 p.m. ET at KSBar.

The finalists: Oregon, Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State and Kentucky.

Burton, a 6-4, 271-pound offensive lineman out of Lexington, KY, is considered the No. 59 overall prospect and No. 3 offensive guard in the 2021 247Sports Player Rankings. The hometown standout is considered a consensus four-star, top-250 prospect.

Earlier this month, Burton was kind enough to join Ryan Lemond and Drew Franklin on Kentucky Sports Radio, where he said he would like to get his college decision over with before the high school football season kicks off.

“If we end up having a season, I’m going to try to speed that up as much as possible, really sit down with my family and try to figure that out,” Burton said. “But for now, I’m just kind of waiting on confirmation on stuff and seeing if they’re going to come out with anything about official visits and all that because I do really wanna take those. Once I commit, I’m not taking any (visits), even if they have them.”

Before the coronavirus canceled in-person recruiting and official visits, Burton planned on taking trips to his finalists, Oregon, Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Kentucky, with the latter two programs seen as his top two choices.

“They were my first offer,” Burton said of Kentucky. “They were the first school to really take a chance on me and I’ll always remember that.”

Burton described the close relationship he’s developed with Vince Marrow over the years.

“He kind of seems like a high school coach. Like not as close to me as (Frederick Douglass) Coach (Nate) McPeek are, but kind of like that relationship where it’s a friend and then a coach,” the in-state standout told KSR. “You know they’re there for you no matter what and it’s not just all about football. They genuinely care about you and want to see you succeed no matter what happens. That’s kind of how our relationship is.”

Kentucky, who has picked up all six Crystal Ball picks at 247Sports and all seven FutureCast predictions over at Rivals, is hoping to add the four-star prospect to join its 15-man recruiting class in 2021.

After extending a scholarship offer back in November of 2018 – his first – we will finally see if Kentucky has done enough to fight off the blue bloods and keep Burton in Lexington.

To find out the final choice, join the four-star standout at KSBar and Grille tomorrow night.

Would be so odd if he committed elsewhere when being at ksr bar and grill. If he commits to UK , give him a rack of ribs on the house.

No! Violation of NCAA rules. We’d get the death penalty before an eligibility ruling on Gatewood or Sarr.

How would that be a violation of NCAA Rules?

He can’t receive free food because he’s a recruitable player and the owners of KSBar and Grille would definitely be defined as supporters of the program.

If he does not commit to UK, this would be the biggest Vince Russo-esque swerve of all time, not just in recruiting. It will have out-swerved Russo himself. I would hate it, but I would tip my hat to him for having the unmitigated gall to do it.

Having said that, WELCOME TO THE BBN YOUNG MAN!!! It will be great to see you as the next anchor in the new tradition of the BB wall!
