University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

It was fun while it lasted

i

It truly was the tale of two halves.

Kentucky’s defense gave a near flawless performance in the first half, but the offense didn’t hold up its part of the bargain, and as a result, Louisville captured the momentum going into halftime up 10-3. Maxwell Smith went down with a shoulder injury in the third quarter, leaving Jalen Whitlow to run the show. Whitlow looked shaky until late in the fourth quarter, and by then it was too late. UK’s sole touchdown came off a pass from Whitlow to Alex Montgomery with six minutes to go, capping off an impressive 15-play 75-yard drive. After another long drive, Jalen Whitlow was sacked on fourth down with a minute left, and Louisville took over, winning the game 27-13.

The most frustrating part of the game had to be all of the missed opportunities, especially on offense. There were way too many drops, boneheaded mistakes, and turnovers, including two in the red zone. Kentucky was a 0-13 on third down, and at times, looked incapable of moving the ball. Donte Rumph left the game with a shoulder injury, along with Bud Dupree. The bye week could not come at a better time.

However, there were some silver linings. JoJo Kemp looked fantastic, finishing with five carries for 80 yards, including a long run of 45-yards. Ryan Timmons also had a good game, with three catches for 72 yards. While UK couldn’t convert on third down, they were 3-4 on fourth down. Most promising may be the fact that they didn’t roll over and give up in the fourth quarter, scratching back to at least keep the game respectable, and Vegas happy.

Go Cats.

#1 your only chance of sniffing a national championship was winning this game by 5 TD’s. UofL goes undefeated and they still will not play in the BCS. Know how many top 25 teams do not play even 1 team in the top 25? 1. UofL. So nice win, run the tables against the cupcakes and enjoy your last year with Teddy before you have to start playing Fl State, Clemson. Louisville only plays 1 team in the top 25 all year long, no wonder they will go undefeated. UK is a bad team and I am a UK fan but Louisville is far from a national championship team. The Louisville coaches padded their schedule in order to make they seem and look better than they really are!

Defense looked great in the first half, should have had an INT. The defense was on the field too long, the offense needs first downs and to convert on third down!!! Turnovers killed us and the dropped balls make me sick. Proud of our team though they faught til the end and our young guys look verrrrrry promising, I think adding our recruiting class for next year and fb season will be a lot less heart wrenching and more exciting. Louisville can talk about national championship all they want. They only beat us by 14 points and we lost to 35-26 even though the actual game was more lopsided than the score would suggest, meaning WKU dominated UK more than UL did. Point is, Louisville is not better than WKU. They can go undefeated with their cupcake “American Conference” schedule and get blown the Fudge out if BCS is stupid enough to put UL in the national title game. So brag away UL fans. You guys may not suck as bad as we do, but you still suck.

Yes, you beat us, and you deserve whatever accolades that a #7 ranked team should receive for beating unranked team. But if you think that means you deserve a shot at the national title, you should re-evaluate your schedule.

No one likes to lose and I have never believed in moral victories but am very proud of the team today. The defense was playing great in the first half and we lose Rumph and Zadarius Smith to injuries. They both were really disrupting the UL offense. We are not in a position depth wise yet to replace those guys. Take away that, two or three terrible turnovers in the red zone, and some wide open dropped passes and UK wins. I know you can say that about a lot of teams in every game but have to be proud of the team. They are getting better each game and with the recruits we have coming in things are finally headed in the right direction. You have to give UL credit for winning the game because that is all the matters in the end. With their schedule playing like this against UK is going to hurt them at the end of the season however if they are being considered for a championship game. Again, I don’t like to lose but am very optimistic about our future.

UL fans want it both ways – stating they are great and we suck. Given the play of the game either we are much better than given credit for or UL is is over rated. Which is UL fans? Because no way you make the mistakes that UK did today and only lose by 14 to the 7th best team in the country.

By the way again, it just shows how paranoid UL fans have always been about UK, to get on this board and the very first post is from one of their fans putting UK down instead of going to one of their boards and just celebrating a win. 1 – UK Basketball won the 2012 NCAA Basketball Championship where they easily defeated the UL tardinals. There will be similar performance of that game on Dec. 28th with the same result.
If you think you will ever be invited to the BCS championship game after that performance you are delusional, although I really would love to see you play Alabama in the title game. The spanking they would give you would be epic and so much fun to watch. #biggest scoring differential in BCS championship game history

  45. Mc

Once Joker’s players move out and more and more of Stoops players take over, things will change quickly. What I took out of this game is UL is a pretty good team, but not a top 10 team. Their defense is soft. Their offense has a good quarterback, but the players around him aren’t impressive. They may very well run the table, but with a schedule worse than Boise State’s several years ago, they will not get in the championship over a 1 loss team from a power conference. If I was a fan of UL, I’d be happy with the win, but I’d also understand reality. The reality is they lost to UConn and Syracuse last season. This season the conference is even worse. It’s a complete joke. Next year if they go undefeated, which they won’t, they’d get more respect. Until then, they’re Boise State (only Boise had a tougher schedule and would beat 1 good team during the season).

Poor Teddy didn’t look too happy coming off the feild. At least he is aware enough to realize that today did nothing for his Heisman and post season future. A UK team that got no respect from anyone turned itself over, got stupid penalties on big plays missing a tying score changing momentum and converted 2 fourth down plays on the want to be National champs. No wonder their poster thinks U of L won a title in 2012.

The tricky thing with bowl games, if it’s not the championship (sometimes even when it is), is a lot of players that are going to declare to the NFL don’t play as hard, or don’t want to risk a Willis McGahee type injury so they play it safe.. Some things that I feel very good about: Each week we see problems from the previous week being corrected. Today the special teams units were much improved against much better competition. That is a big positive. The defense looked very good until injuries and lack of depth reared their ugly heads. These coaches are coaching their you know whats off and making the best with what they have to work with. It will take time for them to get better talent in and for that talent to be developed. Think about how things are already going, at the rate Stoops and his crew are working, in the same amount of time Strong has had (this is his 4th year) UK will be a much better team than what UL is right now. For what it’s worth, I think next year’s team would have been able to win the game today.

First #63: your coach is an adulterous baby killer so shut the f up.

As for this game. I saw a lot of positives this week, especially on defense during the first quarter. The secondary played well and stayed in position. Teddy was rushed most of the time, up until we lost two of our starters on the line. This is going to be a marathon, not a sprint. Slow progress and players filling needed positions. The play and heart they showed today should help them win some games in the future and they didn’t look bad for the recruits in town today. Matt Elam was only present for the first half, so he got to see the best of a pretty good day. I came away feeling very positive about our team, much more positive than Louisville fans would come away feeling.

Fact: Teddy Bridgewater doesn’t care about the Heisman. Said it pre-season and specifically asked Athletic Dept. NOT to put together hyped-up PR campaign.

Fact: Coaches don’t make schedules for their teams, AD’s do.

Fact: Out of conference games are usually scheduled 2-3 years in advance – the remainder of your schedule is determined by conference affiliation. Our conference sucks – and you can’t schedule OOC games with top 10 teams when they won’t play you. Jurich has tried relentlessly.

Fact: UK’s defense outplayed U of L’s offense for 1st half. Credit where credit’s due.

Fact: Jalen Whitlow is not a QB. Might make a great RB or slotback – but he ‘aint a QB.

Fact: U of L won’t get to the BCS Championship Game because of their schedule. A one-loss Oregon, Alabama, Ohio State or other BCS conference team (except maybe the Big 12) gets there before an undefeated Louisville team does.

Fact: Showing your ass, your ignorance and your lack of football knowledge through your posts will make your fan base look pathetic.

Good game UK – will likely be closer next year.

Good game Cats-This game actually reminded of Strong’s first game when U of L showed promise but just did not quite have the firepower so kudos on a good game.

I am struck by the irony of Matt’s stereotyping of U of L fans. If anyone should understand the problem of ignorant stereotyping, you would think it would be someone from Eastern Kentucky.

Why are louisville fans posting on a kentucky website?

82 – The irony of your comment is staggering. Please, divulge more information upon us, you all-knowing lord of football!

Fact: UL fans are the definition of delusional.

Fact: UL will not compete for the BCS National Championship.

Skinny81, I clearly stated in my first post that U of L wouldn’t get to a BCS National Championship.

And here’s one more for you:

Fact: The next time you deliver my pizza late, you will not be tipped.

Seriously, I mean it this time.

I think the author of this article doesn’t understand betting lines. The line started out at 6. So many betters jumped on UL that it quickly rose throughout the week. According to another article 92% of all bets were on UL when the line was 13 points and below. You get the line at the time of your bet – not the line at the time of the game. Vegas took a beating yesterday.

86 – I appreciate it, but here’s the deal: unfortunately, I cannot accept food stamps and ebt cards as a form of payment, or gratuity. Just keep it; you need it more than I. Thanks for visiting our site!!

Fact: Louisville needs Kentucky’s validation. Hence, little brother.

And yet you can’t beat Lil bro…and not up UL standards. We just completed a year in all sports that you LIL Kitties have NEVER acomplished. Someday maybe you will have state of art facilities instead of the barn for basketball and that crappy football stadium.

You seem to know all the terminology about goverment assistance programs…wonder why that is?

Congrats on your short-term accomplishments. Cool story. Where are you displaying the Capital One Cup….. Wait.

I drove through Louisville recently. The terminology I referred to was posted in all of the windows of gas stations and liquor stores. It’s tragic, really.

The first pos(t)er shows the class, lack thereof,of not just their fans but most especially their entire program. Best exhibited by their obvious intent to try and injure our best defensive players from their FIRST offensive series. Chop blocking our dlinemen at every chance. And guaranteeing the final outcome due to this fact. Even the head criminal could not keep from illegally running onto the field to keep the refs eyes away from all the dirtiness of his players. If you will do ANYTHING to win against a supposed inferior and flap your wings over an UGLY victory then you show your true worth, lack thereof,as a human worth caring about. But then ugly is as ugly does. Something else your team/fan base have in common. Being as hard on the eyes as you are on the ears and nose. At least you have something to call your own as the gypsies of D1 football. Can’t wait to see how long it takes your presence to destroy yet another floundering conference. Much like the vulture your arrival is the marker for/of the inevitable death of any such institution/body. Not unlike one of your coaches w/any female w/in reach ya’ll grab all you can get ahold of then fly away spreading your toxic waste out your holes on those you want to impress w/the size of your shite. Only to learn that no one cares about a big shite(pile) especially from a loud mouthed bird that can’t survive w/o feeding off the dead/dying to survive. After all eating out the anal gland of a dead lion is not the same thing as having killed it yourself. Except of course to a bird brain that thinks any feast of rotting anal parts is worthy cackling over. Bottom line,if you want respect first show that you are worthy of it yourself. And dirty/borderline criminal attacks on targeted players in a win at any cost, obvious by your coaches actions all day, shows more to the real fear of what is the future for you. As one game(anal gland) isn’t enough to sustain you for an entire year/BS birth anymore. And no matter where you fly to/conference you join/you are always looked upon as nothing more than a bad sign/a necessary evil that would otherwise be avoided at all costs/shot on sight/scared away by any other animal still physically capable. Btw nice showing fanwise yesterday. At least you don’t travel like gypsies/vultures. As either namesake, that would better describe your program, travel in packs that would put ya’ll to shame. Not that ya’ll can even understand or care about the word’s meaning. Why should you when your AD and coaches/players don’t. Why else would they need a billboard w/5 laws to learn that any well adjusted 8yr old should know by heart. If only they made the players also go to class they might also be able to read them and then choose to ignore them completely, like the coaches.

Skinny 81, I understand completely – you can’t afford to take any chances. Those gov’t. assistance vouchers must be undependable (you obviously have some first-hand knowledge) and you’re likely already on the outs with trailer park management after your last bounced check. No worries, I’ll be paying you for my pizza with cash – as always.

But, I am serious about the no tip if you’re late ultimatum. Having to get here in thirty minutes in that piece of crap, rusted out ’76 Vega with the confederate flag decals all over it is your problem, not mine.
