Is Eddie Gran an Option for USF?

UK Athletics
Willie Taggart’s departure from South Florida for Oregon is good news for Kentucky football recruiting, but could it be bad news for the program?
There are a few obvious choices to replace Taggart at USF: Charlie Strong, Greg Schiano and Lane Kiffin, but Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports inserted Eddie Gran into the mix. Feldman believes Gran is one of the top seven candidates. He had this to say about UK’s offensive coordinator:
Kentucky offensive coordinator Eddie Gran is another guy who has spent decades cultivating relationships throughout Florida. Gran helped spark Kentucky’s rise out of mediocrity this fall; the Wildcats’ offense was third in the SEC in yards per play. He’s also highly regarded within coaching circles.
Justin Rowland found a Tweet from Feldman the last time there was a USF coaching vacancy.
Another name that I'm hearing is in the mix for USF job: FSU assistant Eddie Gran.

With all that being said, it’s highly unlikely Gran leaves after only year at Kentucky.
Gran was approached by Mark Stoops before this year to become UK’s offensive coordinator. Even though the opportunity was there, he turned it down because he wasn’t “ready.” I doubt Gran is ready to leave his longtime friend after just one year as the offensive coordinator.
Our fearless leader, Matt Jones may be worried, but Strong or Schiano will likely jump at the opportunity before USF reaches Gran’s name.
Like Neal Brown, Eddie Gran will become a popular candidate for head coaching jobs, but he won’t likely jump at the opportunity after just one year at UK (*knock on wood*).

Yet another unsubstantiated prediction list from a sports “journalist” who wishes they were an AD or in a position of authority to make a statement on behalf of the USF athletic department. Such a line between reporting actual facts, and reporting opinions dressed up like facts.
Huh? Are you even commenting on the right article? It’s a blog, dude.
i think darren’s comment was in reference to Bruce Feldman for mentioning Gran as a candidate – not Roush. Feldman works for Fox and most certainly isn’t a blogger.
Yes, what Catsby said. I know what I’m getting with KSR (some news, some opinion, some social commentary, and it’s all good.) When a paid journalist like Feldman puts together a wish list, and pawns it off as “a report”, that sticks in my craw.
Just because it “sticks in your craw”, don’t make it bad. “Unsubstantiated prediction” as opposed to what? If you dropped scores and game highlights from the sports networks, 90%(my numerical guess) of what would be left would be speculation. Sports reporting business is built on “Unsubstantiated predictions”. I say UK by more than 20 tonight, how about you? Big $$$ in the “Unsubstantiated predictions”.
Gran makes $650K at UK and Taggart made $1.7 mil at USF. If we increase his salary to $950K and a multi-year deal, it’ll be hard for him to leave, unless he just really wants to be a head coach. If that were the case I think he would have already been a head coach by now.
I agree. His name has been bandied around so much in the past that he may decide he wants to just be a wildly successful coordinator that doesn’t have to deal with all of the headaches being a HC can bring.
I do think he gets a well deserved raise, along with Hinshaw. The work he has done with Johnson has been outstanding. I’m sure he is doing a great job with the other QBs on the roster, too.
You think if money is the deciding factor, doubling his pay wouldn’t be enough? I can’t believe that kind of increase wouldn’t be overlooked by very many in any job or any pay range the first time. I got to believe HC is in his future real soon. At that time, Hinshaw will then get 2 options on where he wants to be an OC.
was meant as as reply to UK Fan in Nashville. oops
Lane Kiffin is going to get a big money offer, then Strong, then Dawsey at FSU. Haven’t heard Gran’s name yet around the program down here.
