University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

In his last 13 games, Stephen Johnson is 9-4. Lamar Jackson? 8-5

We call Stephen Johnson a gamer, but what exactly does that mean?

In his last 13 games as a Wildcat, Johnson has led Kentucky to a record of 9-4.

Heisman-winner Lamar Jackson’s last 13 starts? 8-5.

Johnson didn’t start against New Mexico State or Austin Peay, but played a significant role and led the team back to victory in both games. If you include both of those matchups, Johnson is 10-4 as Kentucky’s QB.

This is no knock on Jackson, as we are all fully aware he has been one of the most electrifying college football players of recent memory. He’s considered the latest and greatest athletic quarterback since Michael Vick.

Johnson is not the most accurate, he doesn’t have he strongest arm, and he’s not the most dangerous athlete in the world.

But when he is under center, the Wildcats always have a shot. Johnson is a winner, and he has done everything asked of him and more in his time at Kentucky.

In the great words of Terrell Owens, “That’s my quarterback.”

I see how valuable this guy is but alot of fans will look back in history and see his greatness. Too bad bc he is great at making the right decision at the exact right moment. I.e. The 54 yd scramble was the perfect decision on 3rd down at a critical juntion in the game. Ultimately got us 3 amd put the game out of reach. GAMER.

Rick, you didn’t see the UK-UL game last year, did you? They gave Lamar a shiny trophy, and SJ totally outplayed him.

To be fair, you need to compare the schedules and opponents and find out who played against better competition…but Johnson is certainly a winner and plays hard.

Too bad there isn’t a head to head matchup to really compare the two. Oh, wait… 🙂

Burned LipMan. SJ outplayed Lamar. Plus, look in every game when UL gets down and how much stress and inpatience that Lamar has. That carries to the team. SJ has never ever been rattled. He threw and InT only to come down amd orchestrate a 12-13 play drive with a TD that chewed up 6 mins. Just sayin the Offense takes the identity of the QB and with SJ calm it allows the others to make plays while being calmer.

I looked at the schedules. Pretty even and Uk won head to head on the road. Jackson puts up great numbers against mediocre teams but struggled in big games. He is now 2-4 in his last 6 starts. Louisville just isn’t a very good team.

10-3 he won 7 last year and 3 this year? Unless this new liberal math they are teaching is different these days!

He lost in the bowl game.
      Wins:
South Carolina, Vandy, Mississippi State, Missouri, Austin Peay, Louisville
      Losses:
      Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Georgia Tech
He didn’t start against New Mexico State or Austin Peay, so as a starter, he’s 8-4.
In games played with significant action, he’s 10-4.
      In his last 13, he’s 9-4.

Says the guy who stated that Drew Barker would become our starter later this season…based on absolutely zero facts or statistics.

Saying our long snapper is 9-4 or something is one thing but the qb position in football on any level is critical. So that being said, NO it’s not comical. It’s smart. The kid deserves some credit. Always a racist moron lol

Their relative records don’t mean anything other than the head to head. Either way glad to have Johnson. He is a gamer with a cool head under pressure and he has had a pretty good amount of pressure.

I will never understand why folks continue to criticize Stephen Johnson, when all he’s done in his time at Kentucky is win. He doesn’t put up flashy numbers. He isn’t going to be in the Heisman conversation. He isn’t going to light up the scoreboard. But what he does is play with a calmness while simultaneously playing with a sense of urgency. When he makes a mistake, he immediately moves on to the next play. When he makes a great pass on 3rd and long to keep a drive alive, he does the same thing. Quarterbacks have to have short memories, and he does. Never gets too high, or too low, and he LEADS this team.

A team’s record is not wholly attributable to the quarterback, but anyone that has paid attention to this team with SJ under center vs. any alternative recognizes the difference, and it’s in the Win column.

Jackson is a good quarterback on a very average team. UK has more talent and out recruits UL every year. UL fans just don’t get it.

Johnson has one advantage over Barker. Barker is the better QB from a physical standpoint, but Johnson handles pressure (both defensive pressure and moment pressure) better than Barker by a large margin. At the end of the day that’s what let’s Johnson lead a team, and what cripples Barker’s physical talents. If you’re a UK fan who still, some how, thinks Barker should see the field you’re deluded beyond comprehension. Stephen out played Lamar with out a doubt, Barker wouldn’t have stopped shaking until March.

And let’s see….Barker was 1-2 for five yards and was sacked twice in his last performance. Again no disrespect but he can’t run.
