Sounds like you feel kinda like me right now

    1. Looother

      All valid questions, Drew…

    2. Bluenblood

Coaches are supposed to win these games and, like Florida, they failed their players and fans again. It really sucks to watch this ….

  2. FunkyMonkey

Damn I want answers to these too,… Stoops will just say the Coaches gotta do better, yada, yada,… it’s all you get these days for $5 million a year.

    1. dcforuk

Here is one answer. Didn’t the extra point get blocked? It was not “missed”. It was “blocked”.

    2. Soylentbeans

Damn you pay stoops 5 million for answers?

    3. pteac13

Drew, you hit all the points that went through my head. We simply do not have a good game coach…

  3. jaw2152

Can’t win too many games without a true QB in the game. Head scratcher for sure.

    1. Looother

      Agree…

    2. dcforuk

Best chance to win is with Lynn. Sawyer should get some reps against UT Martin but a tight UT game is a decision of preference and not right or wrong. I have zero problem with that preference.

    3. Matt10

No, no, no. Lynn is great but makes the team one dimensional. That doesn’t work very often.

    4. catfanmike

We moved the ball all the way down the field on the first series, but never moved it much after that. The second td came after a short field from the blocked punt. Could they have worked Sawyer in before the half. Surely there was some kind of opportunity in the second quarter. I don’t think anyone would have faulted him for trying Sawyer at some point. He was good enough to start and play reasonably well in the Florida game!!! He was 23-35 267 yds and 3 tds. He had 3 int’s, but 1 was at end of game. Not bad for 1st game as starter. Where the hell is he?????

  4. StuckinFL UKFAN

Do yourself a favor and don’t listen to Stoops post game comments…. especially when asked about Sawyer.

  5. Righteous1

Simple answer: This was part of Stoops plan to be eliminated from the FSU coaching job.

  6. CrocodileRunge

We’ve now rushed over 300 yards in a loss to Tennessee twice in the past 4 years

  7. Dolla Bill

    Amen

  8. BigBlue4Three

Because Stoops is a complete idiot. Horrible coach !!

    1. dcforuk

Horrible blog comment. You should not have a space before your exclamation marks. You are a complete idiot!!

    2. Trueblue44

I’m assuming you could lead Kentucky football to 10 wins? If not, gtfo

  9. Jpcat15

Coaching staff was terrible. Had 2 weeks to prepare and couldn’t figure out how to complete a pass? Sawyer Smith must be really bad if he can’t get on the field. You can’t win in 2019 without a passing game. The punt at the end of the 1st half was beyond stupid. The 4th and 3 play had about a 10% chance of working. I can’t watch another boring football game without the threat of completing a pass. I’m as disgusted as I have ever been with the program. How do we play in the SEC and not have someone that can complete a pass. Lynn is an awesome player, but he is not a QB. He needs to touch the ball a ton but not as a QB.

    1. makeitstop

And seriously if all the quarterbacks are so bad that your only option is your wide receiver, who’s fault is that? I mean we didn’t recruit them right?

    2. RAGE

Exactly!!! This is on Stoops 110%.. Especially Walker Wood who has been on the campus for a couple of seasons and he still ain’t ready???And the freshmen we brought in this season also… I mean true freshmen are playing every where and doing pretty good in some situations… I mean this is a joke.. If they ain’t good enough to play then it is on him for recruiting them

    3. dcforuk

Whose fault is a hurricane or a tornado or injuries or grad transfers etc? It is God’s fault right?

    4. trumpetguy

Think last few comments about passing game was it was raining,, remember! Did everyone not see the pass which was under thrown by 10 feet and almost returned for a PICK 6? Hard to watch anymore…..

  10. makeitstop

All great questions Jack. I wish we could help. Best advice I have is get ready for Evansville, don’t buy season tickets for football ever again, and pray to God that Mark stoops takes his entire coaching staff to Florida state so that we can start over bc as much as I like a couple of these guys, Stoops can’t find his rear end with both hands and a sonar device so it doesn’t matter who’s on his staff, he cannot win consistently in this league maybe he will fare better in the ACC… we can only hope.

    1. dcforuk

Make that talk stop sil vous plait!

    2. Soylentbeans

Yeah we can totally find a coach to win 10 games at UK. we have had so many coach claim this feat in the last 60 years.

  11. SCOTTdavis12

Because our offense runs one play and one play only

  12. Collie

The simple answer to most of your questions is Eddie gran……

  13. Larkin123

The field gets compact and Defense has been easier time. While we do the same thing. Anything that deviates off script won’t work anyway because Stoops has to when a certain way.

  14. BBNJustin

    Perfect article

  15. gasman01

Tenn did everything possible to give us the game and still couldn’t do it.

  16. 4everUKBlue

Drew, let me know if you get answers to those questions, I’d like to hear the answers too.

  17. W F Reserve

And you will keep asking those questions until our coaches grow a pair and start playing to win.

  18. Jesus H. Chrysler

    Same. Old. Kentucky.

  19. Le Docteur

Maybe this game will help Stoops realize that you cannot win in the SEC unless you are able to throw for more than 25 yards in a game. He clearly thinks he can. He thinks this is 1950.

  20. jbcats1971

Because as bad as they have been, they are Tennessee and we are Kentucky

  21. KYCat4EVER

Great set of Questions Drew, BUT…You forgot the most important question.

How are Kentucky Football Fans supposed to believe in your coaching abilities enough to want you and your staff back in Lexington next year?

    GO BIG BLUE

    1. Soylentbeans

Because we won 10 games last year. Will likely go bowling this year and have 1 hell of a class coming in next year. If you didnt expect a step back this year after losing like 17 players last year you should have after our starting qb went down for the season.

  22. cmelvin

We have Wagner a 6’7 receiver and TN tallest defender is 5’11 and we didn’t try one time a pass to him in the end zone. TERRIBLE Eddie Gran just Terrible.

    1. Bluehender

I thought I heard them say he was out with an injury

  23. runningunnin.454

UT tried to give us the game…but we didn’t want it.
But, let’s be sure to laugh at UT all next season, too. We can start now, ha ha ha ha ha.

  24. UKCatAttack

$5 million to suck at your job. Sign me up. And apparently Florida State wants him. They can have him. Please.

  25. TheHalloWay

Just look at the stats for QB sneaks for 3rd and 1… And then separately 4th and 1… Now image you have two plays to get 1 yard…what should you do?

    1. TheHalloWay

      *imagine, haha

  26. JASUN74

I watched the presser, but I didn’t hear anyone ask any of these questions! Is everyone scared to ask him a real question? Lol. Serious question! You should make a list for him and ask him Monday when he has another one.

  27. dcforuk

One of those questions was asked at halftime by the reporters.

  28. Lip Man 1

Drew: How do you…yadda, yadda, yadda?

    Simple it’s KENTUCKY FOOTBALL.

    It speaks for itself.

Now forget about it and start devoting all your time to the #1 basketball team in the nation.

Kentucky is Kentucky in football, period. End of story.

No sense is crying over it, it is what it is with this football program.

They were bad in the past, bad in the present and will be bad in the future. They may have a fluke season every decade or so (like last year) but they’ll never be a consistent second tied SEC program.

    1. hoboat33

      Seriously?
Please stay away from UK football next year. You’ll not be invited onto the bandwagon.

  29. Kendrick

Let’s keep doing the same thing and expect a different result

  30. Trueblue44

So, our starting QB and leader goes down, Rose decides to tiptoe thru 2019 and Kash decides to forget how to cover, tackle and contain….and it’s on the coaches? Sorry guys, I’ve blasted them in the past but Smith is simply not good. Bowden or Walker Wood……hmm that’s not a hard choice, we’ve all seen what a playmaker Bowden is. Anyone who thought 2019 was NOT going to fall back is honestly just not being sensible. We lost way too much, then the injury, then lack of growth by Brown and the secondary on D…..it will be fine next year setting up for a monster 2021. Excuse me if I’m pleased with our program being LIGHT YEARS ahead of where it was prior to Stoops. Bash all you want, but keep that shit away from the players and recruits

    1. bkeith75

      Amen brother!

    2. Jester

Trueblue44 it’s fans like you and your lack of football knowledge that make me shake my head. We lost players last year, not coaches. So tell me, why are these coaches not improving? Why is Eddie Gran drawing up plays like a 5th grade kid? Is he a bad OC? Or does Stoops keep his thumb on Gran and not let him do what he is supposed to do? When your coaching staff absolutely refuses to make any adjustments in-game, that is not the result of losing a lot of players last year, that is a coaching problem.

  31. dukeisking

If Tennessee is a not so good team then what is Uk? A not so good team that I has 4 wins and 5 LOSSES!!!!!!

  32. mardi.mar

    Lets stand behind this team!

    1. My Dixie Wrecked

      Way behind them. They stink.

  33. Hatchet

Get ready everyone, I predict we get beat at Vandy. And what has happened to Kash have they neutured him.

  34. Matt10

the players make some of the worst decisions and I guess it’s because they don’t have a Nick Saban type breathing down their necks expecting perfection every practice and every play. The blocked extra point was a lazy blocking assignment. Just didn’t take his assignment seriously. The bomb on 4th and 3, another terrible decision.
Then we have terrible coaching decisions, the punt at the end of the half being one of the dumbest I have ever seen. You go for the throat there and try to get at least 3 more points!!! If you get beat you get beat while being aggressive!!! One dimensional football is rarely successful. Lynn is spectacular but he is NOT a qb!
Just a pathetic coaching job not to win this game.

  35. BlueBanker18

Most of your questions can be answered by the following statement: Our coaching staff are out of their freakin’ minds.

  36. WKY Cat

    One answer: poor coaching

  37. BLUEDOUG65

All valid points . This is on the coaches

  38. shelby3605

The answer to the 1st two questions are because lynn bowden CANNOT pass; he’s a wide receiver, not a QB. Nothing wrong with punting on 4th and 1. We get stopped and UT is close to midfield with a QB who CAN pass. Even if we get the 1st down do u really think we can score in that situation? This has nothing to do with the outcome. If lynn starts at QB next week, i may have to find something else to do; I can’t watch a team run the wildcat formation for an entire game.

    1. lizzyuk

      I HAVE SOME QUESTIONS:
-How do you have a valid pass attack when you don’t have a true QB?
-Who do you throw to when your top 2 receivers are out due to injury (Wagner and Oliver) and your third is playing QB (Bowden)?
-Is it the coaches jobs to put players in a position to be successful, or actually execute the plays?

Look, we’re all frustrated, but Gran called a helluva game and if we punch it in from 1 yard out there at the end we’re all talking about what a great game plan it was to play to our strengths with the ground game. Unlike crazed fans, the coaches look at the stats and know we win 99/100 times when we possess the ball for over 35 mins and rush for over 300yds…you do that by running the ball and riding our best player (Bowden) as far as he can take us.

The players put it all on the field and if Bowden puts a little more on that pass to the TE that was intercepted, we get a TD and we can ice the game at the end. At LEAST 2 of UT’s big plays/touchdowns were bc KASH DANIEL was completely out of position.

If you wanna blame the coaches, blame them for playing Kash on 3rd and long at the end when we needed a stop or for even playing him at all at this point bc he’s constantly out of position. Blame the coaches for not having a valid 4th string backup QB or SEC-caliber receivers. Hell blame them for running a boring offense if you would rather go back to losing 8 games a year with the Air Raid.

But don’t attack the coaches or players when you don’t even know who is and isn’t injured. Some of y’all are ignorant and need to stay off the message boards until you do some research. This is one of those years where an obnoxious amount of key players have gotten injured and the fact that we’ve even been competitive with UF, UGA, and UT (still a solid SEC team despite their record) is a credit to the coaching staff.

Unless y’all wanna go back to losing 76-0 again to half the teams in the SEC and consistently losing to cupcake teams as well…?

  39. Bbngr8ness

Stoops lost on purpose. To keep his name out of the running for the fla st job

  40. CopenhagenCat

Sawyer should have played some in the game. Terrible coaching always to conservative

  41. kuhlkat

It was a fun experiment but Sawyer needs to take over. Lynn can’t pass.
