Kentucky basketball has, and will always be, one of the all-time excellent college basketball programs. The continued runs of excellence that have extended decade through decade justify everything one would need to know about the Wildcats and their storied history. But how do the Wildcats stack up in football?
Earlier this week, Sports Illustrated released a Top 10 rankings list that they believe to be the best college football programs of all-time. At the top of the list are schools that you might expect: Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, etc. Tennessee is the only other SEC school listed and they come in at No. 9.
But these aren’t the rankings we’re going to argue over today. ESPN’s Peter Burns was posed an interesting question on Twitter Tuesday morning in response to the rankings posted by SI: how would he rank all 14 SEC football programs all-time.
Kentucky was listed as the 11th best SEC football school by Burns, ahead of Mississippi State, Missouri, and (you guessed it) Vanderbilt.
My 1st quick pass at these rankings:
9) South Carolina
10) Ole Miss
12) Mississippi State

Is this spot fair? Too high or too low? Choosing the Cats over Vandy and MSU isn’t even slightly controversial. Missouri might have a case to jump up a couple of spots, though. If anything, bump South Carolina down to No. 11 and move the Cats and the Rebels up a spot.
Agree or disagree? How would you rank the SEC all-time?
