How Good was Kentucky’s Offensive Line? The Best in the SEC

Offensive linemen never get the credit they deserve.

It’s not a sexy, stat-producing position.  Few can eloquently analyze the play of offensive linemen and relay that information so the lay person can understand it.  Freddie Maggard does a good job, but even he’ll admit nobody is better than the SEC Network’s Cole Cubelic.

The former Auburn Tiger fills Twitter with exceptional analysis and snippets from some of the best and worst (UofL’s offensive line was even worse than you thought).  Today Cubelic shared who he believes was the best in the SEC in 2016.

1) Kentucky
2) Auburn
3) Alabama
4) Texas A&M
5) LSU
6) Missouri
7) Georgia
8) Vanderbilt
9) Arkansas
10) Miss. State
11) Tennessee
12) Florida
13) South Carolina
14) Ole Miss

Even more impressive: the average star rating for Kentucky’s offensive line was 2.4.

The line’s leader, Jon Toth, is in Mobile, Alabama this week for the Reese’s Senior Bowl.  Playing for the South Team, festivities began this morning by taking measurements.  Practice, where most of the movement up draft boards occurs, starts this afternoon.  The game is this Saturday at 2:30 on the NFL Network.

When was the last time Kentucky had the best *anything* in the SEC? Someone get John Schlarman a raise before a bigger program comes calling!

This is the reason UK was the only Power 5 Conference school with two 1,000+ yard rushers.

    • Yeah, occasionally we may have had the best player in the SEC at a certain position, but an entire unit? Over Bama? Not in basketball? Wow!

  2. Show this to EVERY offensive recruit who is undecided over the next several years. This is unbelievable, and awesome.

I love that this was accomplished by players that only averaged a 2.4* rating.
