Great Moments In The UK-Louisville Rivarly Under Mark Stoops

The Kentucky-Louisville rivalry goes back further than I can remember, but if you’ve only kept up during the Mark Stoops era, you’ve still seen plenty of hostility and ill will between the two programs. The tweeting began today and I’m sure we will see plenty more before Saturday’s noon kickoff in Commonwealth Stadium. For now, enjoy some of the more heated moments from the last three years under Mark Stoops’ watch.
Mark Stoops: “We go out to win every game and Louisville will be high on our list.”
In one of his first interviews after taking the UK job, Mark Stoops told KSR that he plans to go out to win every game and Louisville will be high on his list.
It’s hard to get anything out of Stoops about Louisville, outside of subtle innuendo here and there, but this was his first admission that he understands the importance of beating the Cards.
Clint Hurtt bashed Kentucky football on his Facebook page.
Former UofL assistant football coach Clint Hurtt, already in enough trouble of his own at the time, bashed Kentucky on his personal Facebook page, saying Kentucky doesn’t play in the SEC, it participates. “You only play when you can actually WIN.”

Louisville linebacker wondered why UK gets commits, because “they suck.”
Henry Famurewa, a sophomore linebacker with the Cards, couldn’t comprehend Kentucky’s recruiting success. Once Mark Stoops locked up a commitment from Kendall Randolph in early 2014, Famurewa tweeted, “I just don’t get it.. How is kentucky getting all of these recruits.. THEY SUCK!!”
I just don't get it.. How is kentucky getting all of these recruits.. THEY SUCK!!

Today, Famurewa took it one step further, tweeting “F%#! UK”

Garrett Johnson told Louisville he is No. 1.
A camera caught Johnson letting the home crowd in Papa John’s Stadium know he is No. 1.

Boom Williams told James Quick to calm down, called him Louisville’s hype man.
Over the summer, Louisville wide receiver tweeted his excitement about playing Kentucky this season.
I can't wait to play Kentucky!! But first I must prepare for the Georgia Dome! â—ï¸â—ï¸â—ï¸#readyfortheseasontokickoff

Kentucky’s Boom Williams caught wind of the tweet and told quick to “calm down” because “it ain’t going down like that this year.”
@Uno1Siete7 calm down bruh cause it ain't goin down like that this year #BBN
— Stanley Williams (@boom_that_guy) June 21, 2015
Boom also called him Louisville’s “hype man.”
@Uno1Siete7 I see they made you the hype guy for this season that's what's up bro ðŸ‘
— Stanley Williams (@boom_that_guy) June 21, 2015
Louisville got hype guys instead of players they hype this morning 😂😂😂

Patrick Towles wants another shot.
Also from the summer, Patrick Towles had the Louisville game on his mind and took to Instagram to express his hunger to “get another shot” at the Cardinals:
Gerod Holliman, who sacked Towles and then intercepted him on the final plays of last year’s game, laughed off Towles’ Instagram post and said he “took the heart out of the lion and turned into a kitten.”
😑😴 if he only seen the real video pic.twitter.com/1Krr9Sgjso

Drew Barker will be getting that shot in Towles’ place.
Boom Williams put the L down.

This came after the first of Boom’s two scores in last year’s game.
C.J. Johnson admits he hates Louisville.
From this past Saturday, UK defensive lineman C.J. Johnson admitted, “I’ve only been here for a year and I hate them already.”
Johnson expects this weekend’s game to be another dogfight. “Because I don’t like ’em.”
Speaking of dogfights…
Last year’s pregame fight was one of the most heated moments in the rivalry’s history…
Safe to say the guys on each side, new and old, don’t like each other.

The dirty birds are going to beat us like a rented mule. Drew will get sacked about 6 times and baker will drop 4 more passes
Yeah bc the dirty birds have been so great this year. Are any of their 6 wins against anyone decent?
This is silly. We have a basketball game tomorrow!!!
then don’t comment on a football piece then.
Trash talk is fun, but we need to just STFU and play football. We play a clean game, we’ll be fine. If we have a ton of stupid penalties because of lack of focus, we’re screwed.
Stoops needs to tell our guys to keep quiet because that kind of talk reflects poorly on the coaches. It’s true and it also takes a swipe at motorcycle boy. 😉
Juvenile and Petty. Just play FOOTBALL and keep your mouths shut. It looks REALLY bad on our fan base to condone silly trash when we have not won the game in four years.
BEAT HOOKER U.
Miserable troll….
Towles looked like the biggest fool. He posted smack against Holiman 4 months after the game. The same game where Holiman intercepted Towles on the last play of the game. WTF???
