Georgia’s Jake Fromm enters draft; starting lineman to transfer

The Georgia football team will have a new look on offense next season as star quarterback Jake Fromm announced he will enter the 2020 NFL Draft.

A three-time SEC East champion under center for the Bulldogs, Fromm decided four times is too many and it is now time to pursue a professional career. He is one of four Georgia juniors to bolt for the NFL so far — D’Andre Swift and offensive tackles Andrew Thomas and Isaiah Wilson are the others — and he leaves the Dawgs offense with no experience at the quarterback position.

In somewhat related and a lot more unexpected news, today we also learned Georgia offensive lineman Cade Mays has entered the transfer portal. Mays played in all fourteen games this past season with one start at left tackle, one start at left guard, two starts at right tackle and seven starts at right guard. He also played a little bit of center in only his sophomore year of college football.

By my count, that is three starting offensive lineman, a superstar running back and an elite quarterback all saying goodbye before their senior seasons.

This should help close that gap.

If we can best Fl(doable) and UT(should have already happened) the East is wide open.

I was thinking the same thing. Auburn and UF and UT on the road, have to win 2 of 3, and UGa could be beaten. 1 loss should win the East. Lots of if’s ands and buts, but it could be the year.

Don’t chalk up Auburn up as a loss, Terry proved in the UF game he can be a road warrior and we’re built to travel. Powerful run game and a stout D.

Only thing better is if the lineman transferred here lol. I mean he’d sit next year and hv 2 years???? We lose a lot after next year: Landon, Drake and Luke Fortner. Got a lot coming in but they will be redshirt freshman in a year… just sayin’.

UK should be a favorite to win the east IMO. We have more returning production than just about any team in the east. UT loses all their production at WR, Florida loses their whole defense and their WR corps. Not to mention, the UK schedule is pretty nice comparatively. Florida gets UK & LSU at home, UGA neutral, Ole Miss could be slippery at Ole Miss. UGA is @ UK/Bama, and Auburn at home. UT is at Oklahoma/UGA/Florida and gets Bama at home. South Carolina is @ UK/Florida/LSU, gets UGA and A&M at home.
