Georgia wins on last second field goal

uga

Well, that sucked.

Kentucky looked to be in great shape but two costly turnovers paved the way for Georgia to steal the game. Glasses McGlasserson kicked the game-winning chip shot as time expired.

So much for that trip to Atlanta.

1st and goal down 3. We run the Wildcat twice then throw a fade on 3rd. No way to accept this loss. He and Gran will have nightmares at those calls. UK showed fight but coaches let them down at the end.

This comment is beyond ridiculous “the same results every time.” Really? If that was the case they would not have been poised to win 4 SEC games in a row for the first time in decades.

We’ve came a long way and I’m proud of them. I do think Eddie Grans failure to mix it up even in the wildcat lost us chance for that last drive TD

Are we going to talk more about winning the east now and retiring “that’s so Kentucky?” WTF is up with throwing a fade in the endzone with a sub par QB?

Man, the play calling was very Joker-esque! And we only went to the Badet long ball once and it was there. A fluke interception but it was there. Got tentative and a bunch of 3-and-outs and then the fade on 3rd down. Snell is crazy good but that can’t be the only option we have. We had this game!

Play calling was horrendous. 2 yards and a cloud of dust over and over and over. Did not stretch the defense at all.

Badet and Johnson definitely let them down but when the came got tight the coaches choked. Mismanged clock and conservative play calling on both sides. We have gone nowhere.

Horrible play calling on the last set of downs. We was extremely predictable!! Every game we try and run the clock out and this one backfired on us. Scored 3pts the whole second half. Need a better game plan in the 4th quarter. Play action pass , jet sweep , screen anything but the wildcat 160484743 times in a row.

Well we are still mathematically in the SEC east race. If we beat Tennessee and Florida loses to both South Carolina and LSU then we win the East and go to the SEC championship game.

No one going to talk about how Stoops refused to use any of his final 2 timeouts during georiga’s drive? It was obvious they were going to score at least a field goal. Why let ALL THAT TIME RUN OFF THE CLOCK? INSTEAD, HE TOOK AWAY ANY CHANCE WE HAD AT GETTING THE BALL BACK!

We suck. The officials suck. Our defense is terrible. And I’m sorry but I can’t watch kentucky again this year. It just Pisces me off that we get all hyped, packed stands and everything, and we can’t get it done. You cannot allow them to run it up your damn gut with 2 minutes to go. With the exception of harmon and Jones, the defenses EFFORT was horrendous.

There WAS NO PRESSURE ON THE QB!!! He had light years in the pocket. I don’t think he touched the turf all night long. No way in hell they should’ve marched down field with 2:30 left and go 80yards. Inexcusable!!!

    • KYcats11
      11:38 pm November 5, 2016 Permalink

My bad, nevermind. I honestly have no idea whose fault it was. You really can’t get mad at our 3 star recruit defensive line and juco transfers trying to stop five star everybody. AND don’t blame elam, he was overrated coming out and it wasn’t any body’s fault but the people who rank the players. He tries. Now we are stuck playing a terrible terrible team in a bowl game that we will blow out by 60. I honestly think georgia played like a top 10 team tonight and I thing we played like a top 15. We would’ve been ranked for the first time in I don’t know how long if we won.

I agree KYcats11. But this has been all season long thing. UK has never been able to pressure the Qb. Maybe it is the players. Maybe the conservative play calling from DJ. They don’t even try to bring blitz. Yeah we’re going 6-6 to finish the season. Two road games coming up.

If anyone actually thought for a second that we had a chance at playing for an SEC championship then you need to have your head checked. This team could be a pretty darn good one if it had a quarterback. Johnson is one of the worst passers I have ever seen. I really think this team would have been better off with Gunner Hoak under center. Too late now. At least Austin Peay is still on the schedule. 6-6 here we come.

Agreed but we should have won tonight whcih would make the TN game a win the SEC east game and that would have been awesome

    • KYcats11
      11:41 pm November 5, 2016 Permalink

Agree, but we win if that interception doesn’t happen. And that’s not Johnsons fault.

    • original slappy
      11:47 pm November 5, 2016 Permalink

You’re right about the pick. He throws a pretty good deep ball. But the deep ball is one out of every 20 throws. He can’t hit any of the other 19 consistently. Therein lies the problem for the entire team. Can’t sustain drives running the ball three times EVERY **** TIME. No long drives = tired defense and so on and so forth. A decent QB and this game is a win, quite possibly a convincing one at that.

    • KYcats11
      11:56 pm November 5, 2016 Permalink

I agree. BUT how many times did we even give Johnson a chance to throw especially when there was decent protection. Our line is great run blockers. But mediocre to below average pass blockers. I really don’t think this loss has as much to do with Johnson as it doe’s with juice Johnson and playcalling.

    • original slappy
      12:14 am November 6, 2016 Permalink

They gave him more than enough time to complete the passes to the routes that were being run, he is just always scared to death to throw the ball. That’s why he takes so many sacks.

  14. Kray502

I don’t understand how we get in the redone and the only pass we throw is a fade with a sub par QB on 3rd and goal. What a waste of a drive. Terrible play calling. Johnson is not an SEC QB.

I thought the should have run the wildcat on 3rd and goal. Gran wanted to but Stoops wanted to throw. I think snell would’ve found the end zone. Hind sight 20/20. The game was lost by not playing sharp football on offense in the second half. Let’s beat tenn next week and take a shot at Louisville. We can’t be too disappointed with tonight’s game. The program is still moving in the right direction.

    • Kray502
      11:35 pm November 5, 2016 Permalink

Snell wasn’t finding the end zone on 3rd down from 7 yards out. We should’ve passed it on 1st down.

    • It was me Stoops the whole time
      11:40 pm November 5, 2016 Permalink

Disagree. Moving in the right direction would have been winning tonight. We have taken advantage of the worst sec east in years to go 6-6. They need to win games like this to be moving in the right direction

We weren’t going to find the end zone on a fade out of bounds. We lost by 3 points on a last second field goal. Step back and take a deep breath it’ll be alright. You’ve already thrown in the towel to a tenn team that is trending down right right now. So what if the sec is down this year. Stop downplaying the progress we’ve made this year. We’re not Alabama. It’ll take time.

Juice and Garrett is the reason we lost. That killed momentum. I thought we should have ran a trick play after Georgia’s timeout. That timeout was all about stopping the wildcat and it worked. And the 3rd down fade was atrocious.

  18. cdavidjr

Sorry this was not the defense’s fault. This was completely on the offense and the horrible play calling in the second half, don’t know what Hinshaw was thinking. Once again the defense was just on the field way too long.

  19. EdC

Lucy pulled the football out yet again. Charlie Brown keeps believing that somehow next year it is going to be different.

When you hire coaching staffs that play not to lose after they have a 1st half lead this is what happens and rah rah let’s retire that’s so Kentucky isn’t going to change it.

After two terrible WR turnovers, on a 20 yd first down throw and TD throw, and a QB fumble that Toth recovered …

… Gran made the decision to take the ball out of their hands.

That’s why the play-calling got so bland.

Tough loss cats had game took away on a holding call on fg should been no call. But still going bowling and stoops still has great shot winning sec coach of year on turn around. If cats do not turn ball over against Tennessee they have great shot of winning the game. Can’t wait hear some stupid fan say bring Les miles in.

  23. RealCatsFan
    11:49 pm November 5, 2016 Permalink

Yep, we lost and it sucks. But if not for a couple bad luck plays and a bad penalty that took away a fg, we probably win. Who would have thought that we would have had a chance to win this game after the Florida loss? Who would have thought we would be going to a bowl game? I was ready to trash Stoops back then, but I am going to hold off and see how this plays out. We bring a lot of talent back next year, we have some redshirt freshmen ready to contribute, and we have a much more favorable schedule next year. Yes, this loss sucks, but the future (and the present) ain’t as bad as some would make it out to be. Still, it sucks to be sooooo close!

It’s not about that. It’s about certain ksr writers saying ridiculous statements such as “that’s so Kentucky football” is dead and getting people hyped up for nothing. This is mostly their faults. Stop living in hyperbole. It’s a real problem

I dislike tyler Thompson’s writing as much as anybody. Most things she writes/says makes me cringe for whatever reason but the negativity isn’t her fault nor is it anyone on this websites fault. People SHOULD be excited about uk football because we’re likely going to win 6 games and play in s bowl which is something we haven’t done a lot around here. Expecting anything more is looking to be disappointed. Again, this is kentucky football we’re talking about.
