Georgia Spoils Kentucky’s Fun in 34-17 Win

It was fun while it lasted.  Kentucky’s dreams of an SEC Eastern division title were smashed by a powerful Georgia offense.

The Bulldogs scored more points than any team has scored against UK’s defense all season, thanks to a versatile rushing attack.  Elijah Holyfield bruised away before D’Andre Swift broke free.  The Dawgs gained 332 yards on the ground, too much for the Cats to keep up.

The tide began to turn against Kentucky in the first half.  Facing a third and four from the six yard-line, the Cats needed to capitalize with a touchdown.  Instead, a false start made it a third and long, a third down that resulted in a sack.  Kentucky missed an incredible scoring opportunity.  All the while, Georgia capitalized on every UK mistake.

Georgia controlled most of the game, but UK refused to give up.  Down 28-3, UK’s offense continued to attack.  The Cats scored twice, but it was too little too late (even though A.J. Rose’s touchdown was absolutely incredible).

To miss out on such a rare opportunity hurts.  To say otherwise would be a lie.  However, you gotta tip your cap to Georgia.  They’re ranked sixth for a reason.  Even though Kentucky will not play in an SEC Championship Game in 2018, they can still win ten games and finish a memorable season in a New Year’s bowl game.

It was a fun week in the Big Blue Nation. The only thing missing was a happy ending .

It’s not a great season when we lose 3 of last 4 and we will no matter how down UT and U6 are if we don’t fix the offensive offense. There is some pretty her Renda’s play calling but it’s not just play calling it’s horrible quarterback play. He made a couple good reads for the first time late but he can’t keep the defense honest and if u like seeing Benny stuffed, keep playing Two Hand Touch Terry the worst QB in the SEC.

I’ve said it before and will say it again; terry is going to be the guy, so he needs to be the guy. With 3 inexperienced quarterbacks there are going to be major growing pains with any of them, but IMO terry has put to rest that he should be the one taking snaps

Just hope this loss to Georgia doesn’t end our season like it has Florida’s. They gave up today since they are out of it. Drummed by Missouri at home. I hope we can keep it together. We still have something to fight for.

If I had a quarter of a million dollars on the line as a bonus, I’d be ready to go by game time wouldn’t you. Lol. We win out and win a nice big bowl game and I’ll be excited. Shoot, this country boy here is tickled to death with my cats. That was tough Saturday for sure guys,. Georgia has every Top 20 recruits at every position and they will damn well need more than that in the next few years. I’ll take our NON TOP 300 players with hearts so big and our Coaching staff having them First round picks by the end of their careers and also becoming great young men but KENTUCKY FOOTBALL HAS ARRIVED!!!! Wooooohooooo. I wish it was game day. Now shit I’ve got myself right back to Fridays feeling of , were the hardest working team in the country. We have some work to but I really believe that our players and coaches are AMAZING. GOD I LOVE BEING A KENTUCKY FAN. GOOD OR BAD WE ARE ALL HEART.

I’m here to tell you Tennessee will whip our ass. We have no QB. We cannot throw until we have to, and they’re dropping and daring us to run or throw underneath. We got whipped by a better team, fair enough but we can’t score on offense! 6 touchdowns 18 quarters. And either Stoops or Gran has to man up and make a change or we will split our remaining games and lose in a bowl. Sorry.

Terry was 23/29 with 226 yards and no turnovers. He barely missed on the deep ball and he had to deal with the O-Line letting people through untouched all day.

He takes some silly sacks sometimes but he wasn’t the problem tonight.

Eddie gran sucks….its simple. 14, 14, 15, & 17 last 4 games. Never throws to the middle of the field. Either a screen where we need to pray Bowden makes a play or a low percentage bomb. He maybe made one good call all game and Conrad fumbled on a very soft hit. Need to end the gran era. This defense can only do so much.

    • makeitstop
      7:03 pm November 3, 2018 Permalink

He can’t throw in the middle of the field bc it would get picked off bc he knows his guy will make a bad read. He watched the first few games. But ur right – when we ran it on 3rd and 6 I knew we were dead. But in fairness Eddie Gran is not alone – the defense also knows Terry cannot throw. Watch what the D does… they stuff the run because they knew they had no risk of an accurate pass over the middle or anywhere else.

His best throw the announcers – one of whom was a great QB and head coach – noted he was lucky he threw behind Bowden bc it allowed him to spin out of a tackle, and the TD should’ve been a pick 6. Thing is – if we’re 7-2 and that’s best we can do I’d be ebullient but our D – apart from today – is elite and a good offense would bring it home. I don’t see that happening and that’s what worries us.

But we won’t be 10-2 unless we win 3 straight and we can just as easily be 8-4 if we don’t address the 800 pound guerilla in the room: our one dimensional offense. And spare me the “we gained yards today” bc the defense jammed the box knowing we could only throw underneath. If u think 8-4 is good w this team God Bless u but a few of us think that’s underperforming. What u permit u promote. I’d like to promote higher expectations if that’s ok.

I know why we got run it wasnt what our D didn’t do it was what Georgia was doing to our Defense we lost this game yesterday when Jordan Jones broke his hand If you didn’t notice Georgia drew up all of there big runs in the direction of Either Kash Daniels and Jordan Jones and Georgia positioned the runner to on the side of thier broke hand where bolth had the mallet on thier injured hand so when they ran orond the edge Jordan couldn’t do anything because he would have to grab him with the mallet hand and it wouldn’t really help at to do anything so all we could do on those plays was watch them run for 10-20 yards at a time because they constantly called those plays it killed us because if Jordan Jones is fully healthy he is stuffing those behind the line of scrimmage which would allow us to get into this 3 & longs which gets us into our clutch nickel and dime sets and allows us to really get Josh Allen after the QB but by doing what Georgia did it completely took that off the table for our defense and basically took Allen out of the game.

I know why got run on by Georgia it wasn’t what our defense wasn’t doing,it was what Georgia doing to our defense. We actually lost this game yesterday when Jordan Jones broke his hand. If you didn’t notice Georgia drew up all of thier big running plays in the direction of either Kash Daniels or Jordan Jones and Georgia position the runner to side of each defeders broken hand so the only way they make contact with the runner is with there mallet hand since you can grab anything with a mallet cast on your hand the only thing that Jordan Jones specifically could do was let watch the runner go by him for 10-20+ yards at a time. Georgia called these running plays constantly throughout the game. This pretty much killed us on Defense because we could not get into 3&longs which would of allowed us to get into our favorite nickel and dime sets that would allow us to send Josh Allen loose and let us get pressure on Georgia’s QB but because of what Georgia was doing we could not get into those sets & as a result rendered Josh Allen useless today in fact Jake Fromm wasn’t rushed all game. We did mis bunch of tackles but it was good scouting by Georgia that ultimately was the difference. I’m proud of our team. We still have a chance to finish the season 10-2 and play in a New Year’s six bowl game. So no crying over spilled milk.
