Four Kentucky players named All-SEC by league’s coaches

With the regular season now over, the postseason accolades are rolling out. This morning, the league’s coaches named their All-SEC teams and four Kentucky Wildcats received honors, three from the Big Blue Wall. Landon Young was named First Team Offensive Lineman, Darian Kinnard Second Team Offensive Lineman and Drake Jackson Second Team Center. J.J. Weaver also made the All-Freshman Team at linebacker.
Young has appeared in 47 career games, with 31 starts, including 23 in a row at left tackle. He was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week twice this season (Oct. 19 and Nov. 16) and after 10 games, graded at 89 percent, did not miss an assignment, and led the line in knockdown blocks with 56. He totaled 163 blocks at the point of attack.
Jackson has played in 46 career games with 43 consecutive starts at center. He graded at 85 percent in 10 games played in 2020, missing just one assignment in 627 snaps. He also had 38 knockdown blocks and led the team with 167 blocks at the point of attack. He was on the watch lists for both the Outland Trophy for the best interior lineman and the Rimington Trophy for the nation’s top center.
Kinnard has played in 32 career games with 25 consecutive starts at tackle. He graded at 88 percent in 10 games this season with 40 knockdown blocks and 138 blocks at the point of attack. He also was a candidate for the Outland Trophy this season.
Weaver played in nine games with one starting assignment. He made 33 tackles, is second on the team with 6.5 tackles for loss, and added two quarterback hurries and a pass breakup. He was SEC Freshman of the Week in UK’s win at Tennessee with a career-high six tackles, including two TFL.
Not surprisingly, Alabama racked up the honors, with Nick Saban winning Coach of the Year, DeVonta Smith winning Offensive Player of the Year, Patrick Surtain II winning Defensive Player of the Year, and Mack Jones winning Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Check out the complete list below.

2 Comments for Four Kentucky players named All-SEC by league’s coaches
We had an abysmal offense with the best offensive line we’ve ever had. The incoming OC could have a rough first year having to replace the strength of the team.
Jamin Davis was robbed. How does a linebacker with 27 total tackles rate as a second team SEC?
