Former Kentucky offensive coordinator turned East Tennessee State head coach Randy Sanders is in the news today over allegations he hit a player.

According to Joe Avento of the Johnson City Press, Sanders hit defensive back Tyree Robinson in the helmet during practice on Friday when he failed to take a knee during a drill. He has been placed on paid administrative leave.

Sanders served as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator at Kentucky from 2006-2012. From 2013-17, he was co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Florida State. He accepted the head coaching job at East Tennessee State on December 17, 2017.

Wait… a football coach hit a player? On the helmet? I think it’s time to take away the helmets and pads and just play flag football from now on. Or maybe keep the helmets and pads and still play flag football.

If my high school coaches got in trouble every time they slapped a player on the helmet they would have never coached a game.

And coaches like Bear Bryant would have been fired and maybe have done jail time instead of becoming legends.

Wow a coach smacked a player in the helmet. Let’s suspend him.

ETSU needs to establish a “safe place” on the practice field so their players can be protected from unwarranted, and senseless violence, such as this.

    Just kidding.

Kids would never make it under the old school coaches. Him not kneeling is called not listening and no discipline. Kids are too entitled living in their safe space.

lol, happened all the time to me in grade school football… this kids gonna have a rough life, would be curious to hear if he went and told on the coach or if it was some complaint from someone watching. Either way it’s just bizarre to me in a college football environment. Now if they coach hauled off and started punching the kid even with his helmet on, that’s a different story

Next time just have him return a punt without blockers. That would hurt a lot more

A coach named Randy Sanders hit a player named Tyree Robinson in the helmet. You boys me to do the math for you? If the player’s name was Cody Martin it wouldn’t be a story.

This is just horrific. I can’t believe a coach could behave in such a manner. I sure hope the kids helmet is ok. Smh. Bet the kid is also a Hillary supporter.
