Former assistant Tommy Mainord hired at North Texas

Kentucky’s ex-WR coach Tommy Mainord has accepted another coaching job at the University of North Texas.

Mainord coached at UK for the past three seasons, but was let go last month along with offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson. Many thought Kentucky’s receiving corp would be one of the team’s strengths last year, but dropped passes and inconsistent play plagued the group throughout the seasn.

Mainord will assume the role of inside receiver’s coach at North Texas. Previously, he worked as the outside receiver’s coach at Texas Tech and as the offensive coordinator at Lamar.

Best of luck, Tommy.

Sorry, I don’t wish him any luck.

Well, you would truly have no idea, now would you? I will say this: our society of sentimental weaklings like yourself is the biggest danger we face. These guys sabotaged our season. And some of you say “good luck!”. Pathetic. No. No good luck. They didn’t do their jobs. They got fired. End of story.

I doubt as a WR coach, he ever told them to drop passes.

No shit. That’s the only thing that would make him a bad coach? No. He failed.

Totally uninformed comment but moving from the SEC to C-USA doesn’t seem like much of an endorsement of Coach Mainord’s abilities.

Folks, I hope he does well, and I am glad he got a job. Think of yourself or your parents or you siblings or your friends. It is tough to lose a job when you have family to support and bills to pay. It doesn’t matter where he got the job; I’m glad he got one.

We as UK fans don’t always have to be so negative about everyone that leaves this program. Just wish them well and move on. We look really petty otherwise.

Folks, I’m an adult. I work. If I don’t do my job, I GET FIRED. And if I really suck, I’ll have to find another career path. That’s life. It’s hard.

I don’t need luck. I complete my work satisfactorily. Mainrod, on the other hand, is a terrible coach.

Too bad he didn’t take Dorian Baker with him.
That kid quit on this team long before the Louisville game.

As a coach, you cant catch the passes themselves, but someone has to take the fall. I hope we use more Stick Em next year…Go Cats

So glad that long dong silver is such an asset to his workplace and is so successful at whatever his job may be. I wonder if his co-workers have as inflated an opinion of him as he obviously does. But, I doubt his job is evaluated on whether 17-21 year old kids catch footballs in stadiums with 60,000 people yelling and great athletes on opposing teams trying to disrupt the catches. I’m sure lds’s job is equally intense.
I hope Coach Mainard is successful at his new position. He has a good resume and I’m sorry it didn’t work out at UK.
