Florida DT Dominique Easley injures knee at practice

Huge news out of Gainesville: star defensive tackle Dominique Easley injured his knee in practice yesterday, according to the Gainesville Sun’s Zach Abolverdi. Sources say the injury is thought to be a torn ACL, in which case he will be out for the season. Easley is a dynamic player who was expected to go very high in next year’s draft, and is one of the leaders on Florida’s team (even if he hates the South).

If it’s true that he tore his ACL, that’s terrible news for Easley and the Gators. They lost Jeff Driskel last week for the season, and will also be without cornerback Brian Poole for the first half on Saturday. Running back Valdez Showers and tight end Colin Thompson are also doubtful for Saturday’s game.

UPDATE: Will Muschamp says Easley only “tweaked his knee” and will sit out practice today. Stay tuned…

Yet another UPDATE: Easley tweeted this moments ago: “@MR_ChUcKiE_2: Thank you for 4 yrs of sticking with me but god has something else planned.” Sounds like more than a tweak to me.

I think it’s OK to report injuries but let’s not be seen to celebrate them. With or without the players that have been injured, Florida is plenty good enough to beat us. By the same token, with or without the injured players, Kentucky is capable of pulling off the upset. Let’s focus on Kentucky’s performance and not the injuries of opposing players.

If there was a game for him to take off and rest and heal up, it would be this Sat against UK. I’d say his backup is better than 90% of our players at this position, so Florida will be fine at that spot. But I do hope he is okay and recovers quickly, just in time for NEXT week’s game.

11, Stoops is 2-1 against Florida. Keep up the good work.

Hope Easley is ok! Never wish anything like this on a player, even though he is a bag de douche!

Maybe the bigotted “MR”. Easley should take his wound and have it doctored in his beloved North.

UF’s 2nd string is still better than UK’s 1st string. No problem here. Next man up.

I hate sports injuries; they hurt, they’re depressing, and it’s hard to get back to 100% in the spot that you injure. If this is the case and he really is hurt, and muffchomp isn’t using this as a ploy to throw everybody off, then I hope for a speedy recovery for him.

In other words: Easley is suspended for the game for nearly “breaking the code” about getting paid to come to UF. Loose lips sink ships, Dominique.

Sounds like his teammates gave him an ACL shot for talkin’ bout the Dirty South.
