Kentucky’s defense really needs Ryan Flannigan to get healthy. The senior linebacker has been out for a couple of weeks with a shoulder injury and Mark Stoops said yesterday he will not play Saturday if he isn’t back on the practice field by tomorrow.
Today, Flannigan was active at practice, but in a non-contact role. DJ Eliot said he isn’t sure if tomorrow will be any different as Flannigan’s status is still day-to-today.
Kentucky is already incredibly thin and inexperienced at linebacker, so Flannigan’s shoulder injury –an injury known to reoccur– is a serious concern. Sounds like UK will be without him against Louisiana-Lafayette in the opener, unless he can get back out there in practice tomorrow.
Get ready to step up, freshmen.
