Walker Wood Wins the Paul Horning Award

The Lafayette quarterback and Kentucky commit has won the Paul Horning Player of the Year, given each year to the state of Kentucky’s best player by the Louisville Quarterback Club.  Wood is following in the footsteps of Tim Couch,  Shuan Alexander, Damien Harris and Kash Daniel.  Wood’s next game will be at Lafayette in a second round matchup with Tates Creek this Friday.

Benny Snell is the Third-Ranked True Freshman

Last week Snell entered Pro Football Focus’s Top Ten True Freshmen list for the first time at No. 8.  They were even more impressed with his performance against Georgia.  No offensive player is ranked higher than Snell.

Snell catapults up to the third spot, as he had another big day against Georgia. He rushed for 114 yards on 21 carries and had two scores against the Bulldogs, but his most impressive feat was the nine missed tackles he forced.

How the Defense Prepares for Dobbs

Another week, another athletic running quarterback.  Tennessee’s turnover-prone Joshua Dobbs will be friendlier than most *knock on wood*, but D.J. Eliot is well-aware of the aerospace engineer’s athletic ability.

“He hasn’t run the ball a lot, yet he’s their leading rusher,” Eliot said.  “You have to make sure that that quarterback is contained.  You have to make sure you’ve got a man on him in the run game too, because he can be dangerous.”
