First Look at the Vanderbilt Commodores

A desperate Vanderbilt Commodore football team will travel to Commonwealth Stadium as both Mark Stoops and Derek Mason have entered must-win territory.

Let’s take a look at the Cats’ opponent:

— Scoring: 20.2 points per game, SEC-13th

— Rushing: 147.8 yards per game, SEC-13th

— Passing: 154.6 ypg, SEC-14th

— Total 302.4 ypg, SEC-13th

— 3rd Down: 35.21%, SEC-12th

— Red Zone: 100%, SEC-1st

Three Best Players

— RB, Ralph Webb is the most underappreciated football player in the Southeastern Conference. The junior from Gainesville, Florida is the SEC’s leading rusher: 118 carries, 582 yards, 5 TD’s, and 116.4 ypg. Webb weekly carries the football and his team.

— QB, Kyle Shurmur was shaken up at the end of the Florida game. Shurmur’s status remains unknown: 67-130, 696 yards, 3 TD’s, 3 INT’s, and 139.2 ypg. If he is unable to go; junior Wade Freeback will lead the Dore offensive attack.

— WR, Kalija Lipscomb: 14 catches, 189 yards, 2 TD’s.

— Scoring: 23.6 points per game, SEC-11th

— Rushing: 160.6 yards per game, SEC-9th

— Passing: 248.6 ypg, SEC-12th

— Total: 409.2 ypg, SEC-11th

— 3rd Down: 42.86%, SEC-12th

— Red Zone: 65%, SEC-3rd

Three Best Players

— LB, Zach Cunningham leads the SEC with 52 tackles. His 10.4 per game average tops UK’s Jordan Jones’ 10.2 per. Cunningham has also accumulated 8.5 tackles for loss.

— LB, Oren Banks : 21 tackles, 2 TFL, 2 QB sacks, 1 INT, 1 forced fumble.

— DT, Adam Butler: 11 tackles, 4 TFL, 2 QB sacks, 1 QB hurry, 1 deflected pass.

Record: 2-3

South Carolina 13, Vanderbilt 10

Vanderbilt 47, Middle Tennessee 24

Georgia Tech 38, Vanderbilt 7

Vanderbilt 31, WKU 30

Florida 13, Vanderbilt 6

Kentucky needs a win. Vanderbilt needs a win. Monstrous week for both programs as bowl game aspirations and more will be on the line.

I for one would like to see direct stat comparisons. Unlike most fans, I don’t memorize the season stats and conference ranking after every game. Thank You. #ALLIN #TeamChester #LifetimeContractForStoops #StoopsIsBestThingToHappenForUK GiveStoopsALifetimeContractWithAMutualBillionDollarBuyout
