It’s official: the Kansas City Chiefs are your 2019-20 Super Bowl Champions. The team finished the biggest football night of the year with a 31-20 win in Miami.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes finished with 286 yards and two touchdowns in the air (completing 26-of-41 passes) to go along with 29 yards and one TD on the ground. Game MVP Mahomes will be taking his family to Disney World, and head coach Andy Reid will finally get his first Super Bowl ring – after his (orange) Gatorade bath, of course. It’s the first Super Bowl for the Chiefs since 1970.
The win also means Kentucky’s former defensive coordinator Matt House is a Super Bowl champ. House is in his first year with the organization as the Chiefs’ linebackers coach.
After a relatively-slow offensive game, things got interesting late in the fourth quarter when the Chiefs started their rally from a 10-point deficit.

Mahomes and the rest of the Chiefs’ offense were able to put a remarkable 21 points on the board in the fourth quarter to earn the comeback win. 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo threw to eight receivers for 219 yards throughout the matchup, but he was sacked on the game’s most-critical fourth down. Kansas City took over possession of the football, and it didn’t take long for Damien Williams to run in a 38-yard, ring-clinching touchdown with 1:12 remaining in the game. Williams’ TD put the Chiefs up 30-20. The team’s kicker nailed the point-after attempt, and the score was final: 31-20.
In other news, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez crushed their halftime performance, and Shakira even created this viral moment.
