Mark Stoops’ post-practice press conference left the media with some upsetting news: Kentucky linebacker Jordan Jones will not play against South Carolina this weekend due to an unspecified shoulder injury.
Jones injured his shoulder last week against Eastern Kentucky, but Stoops wouldn’t go into the details of the injury.
“It does me no good,” Stoops said. “I’m not a doctor. I know there’s a lot of speculation. It’s a shoulder injury and there isn’t a timeline right now.”
Stoops added that Jones is “week-to-week,” meaning he may not even be able to compete against Florida on Sept. 23.
“It may be a stretch to play next week quite honestly,” Stoops said. “He’ll play when the doctors tell him he can play.”
In the mean time, sophomore Eli Brown and redshirt freshman Jamar “Boogie” Watson will fill the starting positions. Jamin Davis, a true freshman, will be “on call,” according to Stoops.
