ESPN leaves Benny Snell off preseason Heisman top 10 list

ESPN has released their official preseason Heisman watchlist, and Kentucky running back Benny Snell was not included in the top ten.

Four running backs made the list, including Stanford’s Bryce Love, Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor, Oklahoma’s Rodney Anderson, and Boston College’s AJ Dillon.

Former Kentucky target and in-state talent Damien Harris was also snubbed.

As we told you earlier, CBS Sports’ Barrett Sallee believes that if Benny were on a more high-profile team, he’d be a Heisman candidate.

“He is one of those guys that you don’t really know about from a national perspective until you see him, and then when you see him play, it’s like, ‘Wow, this kid is an absolute monster.’

“If you put him on any other roster, he’s a Heisman candidate. He just isn’t going to get it done at Kentucky because no one watches Kentucky.”

Love rushed for 2118 yards and 19 touchdowns at Stanford last year, while Taylor rushed for 1977 yards and 13 touchdowns as a freshman last year at Wisconsin. Anderson rushed for 1166 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Sooners in 2017, while Dillon ran for 1589 yards and 14 touchdowns at Boston College.

Snell, on the other hand, rushed for 1333 yards and 19 touchdowns as a sophomore last season.

I guess Benny is just going to have to prove the world wrong yet again.

If Benny can produce the way that he says he can, then it matters not if he is on the ‘pre-season’ list or not. Only his results really matter….right Benny!?

Shut up and play. Do it on the field. Benny has so many chips on his shoulders he’s gonna have a hard time holding his pads up.

Wow. Those comments are great for recruiting. Sounds like a stab at the program to me. ANY other roster. Over the top imo.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking. If you’re choosing between UK and any of these other schools with players on the Heisman Watch list, why would you come to UK?

Also, would Benny get the opportunity to put up the same numbers elsewhere as he does with UK? In basketball terms, Marshall Henderson put up solid numbers at Ole Miss but would he have done that at UK?

Not taking away from Benny or the program but typically Heisman play on teams that win most games/ranked.

30 year season ticket holder. Tired of the disrespect articles this year and every year. Respect is earned on the field. Preseason hype is cheap.

Our football schedule in the sec most years should showcase any Heisman worthy player we may have.

In case no one noticed, no SEC running backs were placed on that list.

To win the heisman you have to elevate your team to a certain level of success. I feel we the sky is the limit for our success this season. But the same people that think we will only win 6 games won’t make him a candidate. And if we only win 6 he shouldn’t be in the conversation. Start the season 5-0 and I promise you he is in that conversation

Ya he got in trouble for PEDs and was suspended for a season, then had to sit out another year upon transfer to WVU
