Kentucky Sports Radio

University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

Eight years ago, today…

On this date in 2007, your University of Kentucky Wildcats upset the No. 1 LSU Tigers in Commonwealth Stadium.

The eventual national champion had a chance to win it in the third overtime period, but Braxton Kelley stopped Charles Scott on fourth-and-two to seal the 43-37 victory for Kentucky. It was the Cats’ first win over a top-ranked team since 1964.

Who’s up for another big win, say, oh, maybe Thursday night?

I can’t believe that was 8 years ago. Be careful, you go from 26 to 34 real quick. What’s even crazier is that means the guys who were seniors on that team are likely in their 30s now. Time flies.

I’ll still party on Thursday night with a W, even in my old age.

That was the season that got me into UK Football. I lived in San Antonio and we’d just hired a former walk-on from Alabama. Another coworker was a Florida fan. The victory against Louisville whetted my appetite for football like it had never been.

Since, through ups and downs I’ve remained a loyal FB fan.

I can’t believe that highlight video didn’t show the Lyons hit on the LSU guy!

I ran around my work yelling and got fired the next day. So worth it.
