Here we go: Eddie Gran just confirmed to Fox Sports that he has accepted the offensive coordinator position at Kentucky.

Additionally, Cincy beat writer Tom Groeschen tweeted that Cincinnati head coach Tommy Tuberville says Eddie Gran has accepted the job at Kentucky and quarterbacks coach Darin Hinshaw will join him.

Local outlets are also confirming the news. The Courier-Journal’s Jon Hale reports that Gran will coach the running backs in addition to his offensive coordinator duties and Chad Scott will coach the wide receivers.

The Gran Era has begun.

Glad to have new OC, but especially glad to have QB coach. Something I’ve said we needed for a long time. These two should make our recruiting in Ohio even stronger.

South Florida recruiting will pick up, not Ohio. Both are well known in South Florida.

This is good news! Stoops has 2 years to get UK Football to a place that fans are happy, and it helps that he will be working with an Offensive Coordinator that he knows and trusts.

Love that we got a qb coach that is already familiar with the OC’s system. Hopefully they can hit the ground running.. If he can make UK’s offense anything like UC’s, then it should be entertaining football at least! Go cats and welcome aboard.

So we have an OC that actually has called a live play before. Great. I hope SDS game last weekend is not an implication of whats to come. Good luck coach.

I hope he calls plays better than the last two OC’s. When it is 3rd and 1, I hope we don’t see a 40 yard side line pass over the head of the receiver!

    Hi Eddie –

    Want to succeed? Listen closely…

    Do:
    1. Be Creative And Go Big As Often As Possible (without jeopardizing drives) – To win.
    2. Put The Ball In Your Playmakers Hands As Often As Possible – To keep the fans on your side.

Example of Success: Hal Mumme Offense (1996-’98)

    Don’t:
    2. Be Conservative. It doesn’t work at UK.

Example of Failure: Bill Curry Offense

Don’t be hard headed about trying to establish the run game (Woody Hayes). You don’t have the hogs. But if you can find a running back who runs North/South like Moe Williams (1993-’95) then you can find balance with your passing game attack.

UK fans have watching offenses like Steve Spurrier at Florida show that you can score on every play. Hal Mumme then showed that can happen at UK. His problem was he had no D (nor did he appear to be concerned about it).

With Stoops at the helm as D man, you have a chance. With your ties in Ohio & the South in recruiting you have a chance.

It will be uphill at this point. People will expect results. Your 2 offensive predecessors played out the honeymoon. Bring a creative and relentless attack at defenses and you will win the hearts of the commonwealth.

    Good Luck! Go Big Blue!

I’m not confident Coach Gran will be reading the comment section of KSR for coaching tips. That being said, I agree with everything you stated 🙂

Their first mission ought to be to get another decent QB on campus, preferably a transfer with college experience. We’re one rolled ankle away from playing a true freshman.
