Eddie Gran a possible replacement at FIU for Ron Turner?

This morning, Florida International University fired Ron Turner as their head coach after a 0-4 start, according to Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman. Turner was never able to get the ball rolling at FIU and the dismal start to the season was just icing on the cake for the FIU Athletics Department.

Following his report of Turner’s termination, Feldman came out with some interesting prospects for the new opening at FIU and UK’s own Eddie Gran made the list.
Others who are also prospects for the job at Butch Davis, former Miami Head Coach; Manny Diaz, Miami’s defensive coordinator; and Jedd Fisch of Michigan.
It’s a long shot, but I’m starting to like Eddie Gran and this program doesn’t need to lose another OC.

It’s Florida International University rather than Florida Institute University. Perhaps just a Bullitt County thing.
Florida International University, and why would that guy think butch Jones would leave Tennessee for FIU??? Hope it isn’t Gran.
Whoops, reading comprehension isn’t my Forte on Sundays 😴
I would think that the salary base at FIU for the head coach would be in the ball park of what Gran is making at UK as OC. Unless he is itching to be a head coach I doubt he would go.
FIU pays $550,000 salary….so your assessment is about correct.
As a UK alum AND a FIU alum…I can tell you the talent is here in S. Florida. FIU is not a bad program for a coach to get something going. However, competing with Miami is always going to be tough. Unfortunately, FIU has very few of the students are into (American) football, most are international. But the school is much larger than the U and has a strong alumni base. It would just take a few years of winning to get things going. FAU has the same problem. Too many schools like Louisville come in and scalp the best players not going to UM or FSU (no one from south Florida goes to UF).
That would storing for coach stoops and the UK fan base; we simply cannot change coordinators every freaking year; we need a few years of stability.
