Drew Barker is Your Starting Quarterback

UK Athletics

It’s been a long time since the Kentucky football team entered Fall Camp with a starting quarterback.  You probably don’t remember a time when there wasn’t a quarterback competition.  In 2016, there’s no doubt — Kentucky’s quarterback will be Drew Barker.

Stoops proclaimed Barker the starter after today’s game.  Even though he’s been pushed by Stephen Johnson throughout the Spring, he’s continued to fight back.  That was evident during today’s scrimmage.

“It was really good to see Drew bounce back after the interception,” Stoops said.  Barker responded with an impressive two-minute drive that ended with a 19-yard touchdown pass to C.J. Conrad.  He finished the day 12-18 for 156 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

I think he redeemed himself in the final 2 minutes of the half with that impressive drive. Props to SJ though, that dude is dangerous on the move and had some good looking passes.

It was a good scrimmage. Just got back home, gotta say the guys much more prepared. Johnson will get some snaps this year.

      Hi Larry,
I thought Johnson did alright. He could be used in certain. Red zone packages. He actually runs the read option well.

Nick, do you think Jeff Brohm will become the next head coach at Kentucky?

I am sorry but I just don’t see it in Barker. The Juco transfer looked better today to me. I fear Barker is going to lead us to MAYBE 3 wins tops.
