Drake Jackson is one bad mother…

Yesterday we heard Drake Jackson got into it with two Alabama commits at The Opening in Oregon. Well today, Jackson continued to hold his ground against the much larger guys at the camp as the fight(s) continued.

Check these out…

I think we’re going to like him at UK.

The guy took Drake’s helmet off with his hands. Would be a flag on DL every time. Easy call.

And is it just me, or are the “coaches”/”assistants” kind of making the skills a little too aggressive? I know that linemen go head to head, 1 on 1 in sets, but that much activity after the whistle is ridiculous. Almost looks like the coaches are getting into it too. This doesn’t look like a cleanly organized camp. More like MMA training…

To some extent you have a point. If the kids tried this same stuff in a real game, they’d be penalized every time.

Too aggressive? It looks like linemen going after each other trying to earn a position and playing time. There is nothing inappropriate here.

Great point. The “camps and combines” culture has become a very prominent part of high school football that I have very little regard or respect for.

I’ve coached high school football here in KY for 30 years, and my father coached here for 30 before that. It’s a shame that suddenly, kids feel compelled to subject themselves to these sorts of “events” simply to get recognized/recruited. I’m not saying they’re altogether wrong . . . just that it’s a shame.

I’m sure the kids get some benefits from the extra reps and competition, but a lot of the bullshit should stop. Primarily, that’s the “coaches” fault, not the kids.

Now he just needs a redshirt year to work on his hair and beard – the essentials of a big nasty NFL O-Lineman.

I’m really glad you guys won the championship this year…. I mean it was before 1921 since you beat an SEC team in a bowl game (vacated victory versus Arkansas for NCAA violations not withstanding). Come talk smack to us again in another 100 years. That is all.
