Denzil Ware named SEC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week

Congratulations to Denzil Ware, who was just named SEC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week alongside Tennessee’s Derek Barnett. Ware had five tackles, including two quarterback sacks, in UK’s win over South Carolina, and helped the defense limit the Gamecocks to a season low 10 points on 3 of 13 third down conversions.
Ware’s two sacks combined for a -21 yards and came at crucial moments. With South Carolina in UK territory, threatening to tie the game late in the fourth quarter, Ware sacked the quarterback for a 19-yard loss on fourth down; it turned out to be USC’s final offensive play of the game.
“I really feel like he played his best football of the year,” Stoops said of Ware at today’s press conference. “We needed him to step up and he did.”
Congrats, Denzil. Keep it up.

That’s what I like to hear.
Denzel had a nice game, but let’s just relax a bit. KY got a win which they needed against a team that was abysmal. A team that Miss St (who lost to S Alabama and struggled with UMass) handled. A team that can’t score on anyone. A team that has a hack for a head coach. Keep in mind against two SEC defenses UK has put up a total of 24 points (7 came in garbage time against FL).
Any team that has any competence on offense will score in bunches on this team. I watch our players take false steps, get blown off of the ball, take bad angles, line up out of position etc.
South Carolina will not win an SEC game outside of Vandy this year. UK will struggle to win another one. I’m not sure what made everyone so happy about this win. They needed to win and they did, barely in unconvincing fashion against the worst team in the SEC. Had they won by 2-3 TD’s and put up more than 17 pts, I might say ok, we have an offense, but we don’t. We have an offense against bad teams. Had they played a team that has scored more than 20pts in a game this year and held them to 10 I would say ok, our defense definitely improved, but they didn’t so I will reserve my judgement on that.
You must look at the opponent and ask yourself what level they are really on. SC is on the bottom level. The very bottom and we beat them on a fourth qtr TD and struggled to move the ball. This team has a ceiling of 4 wins and a possibility of 3.
So what you’re saying is, you’ll be cheering for Alabama on Saturday…?
Do you complain EVERYWHERE on this board? You’re like cats paw but without the wit
Mississippi state and Vandy seem much more winnable after this. I’m not convinced we can take Missouri, but 5 wins certainly seems possible. Potentially a 6th. We are still a long shot to go bowling this year, after SoMiss, but it seems far more plausible than it did two weeks ago. That’s what lifted everyone’s spirits a bit.
