Decision on Flannigan coming tomorrow

It looks like we’re going to have to wait one more day until we find out if senior linebacker Ryan Flannigan will play on Saturday. A UK spokesman told reporters after practice today that Stoops will address Flannigan’s status tomorrow, and there was no word on if he was able to practice today after injuring his shoulder early on in fall camp.

And so, we wait. Kindsey will be by in a bit with Dawson’s full remarks.

We need to sit him if it’s that big of a deal. I know we are weak at LB, but our offense will easily win the game and the defense will still make plays.

I agree, sit him until we “really need him”. If it even has a chance to heal, let it try. I hurt my shoulder at about his age and it has never healed – 30 years, but it never got a rest.

I’m not the coach, so I won’t pretend to have all the information, but in my opinion, there’s no reason to make the call today. He’s a SR, so he’s got the experience. Let him sit 1H, then get him some garbage reps in the 2nd, or just let him wait until USC. That’s when we’ll need him.

I have the feeling his injury may be worse than originally thought. I may be completely wrong but it kind of has that feeling. It really sucks because he was injured by a Jacob Hyde run play. Even Dawson said they should have pulled him for that play.
