Dak Prescott defeats Kentucky, 42-16

dak-prescott

Dak Prescott and the Mississippi State Bulldogs handed Kentucky an embarrassing loss tonight down in lovely Starkville. Prescott ran all over the Wildcats to the tune of 117 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. He added another 348 yards and one touchdown through the air as the Dawgs rolled past the Cats, 42-16.

We did see the debut of Drew Barker at the quarterback position, so there’s that. He got a couple of looks late in the fourth quarter when the game was way out of reach. Towles watched from the sideline after a 23-for-42 night with no touchdowns, two interceptions and plenty of drops from his receivers.

Kentucky falls to 4-3 on the year with the loss. It was a pretty bad night all around.

When the score is 42-16 you didn’t “beat yourself”. You just suck.

We are Kentucky. Defense was rather porous. Pretty poor showing after a decent start. Put it behind and move on.

Coach Stoops will say, “we’re young, we have to get better, our coaches make too many mistakes, we must keep improving.” How long do those excuses hold water? It look to me like we are getting worse, not better!!?

Those excuses last as long as the receivers dropping passes excuse. Maybe they are shocked the ball is so close to them as most of Pats passes are not near our receivers.

We’ve played two point guards at the same time in basketball, I say start two quarterbacks! It’s the edge we need to overcome these 26 point deficits.

Dak had three through the air. That was tough to watch. Defense was slow off the ball and not lined up on several plays. I wish the RBs would hit the line harder and run between tackles rather than trying to bounce outside. We just aren’t a physical team and were dominated on the line of scrimmage, both sides.

True. We have improved recruiting. That’s it. Towles isn’t a winning qb. Barker could be in time.

You are obviously not familiar with Leon. Barker looked decent but far from the answer for this team. Penalties and defense KILLED us. Pat was far from stellar but Drew’s performance in garbage time is hardly a reason to proclaim a changing of the guard. Barker may be a great QB down the road but his performance tonight doesn’t support the OP’s assertion.

“Leon’s” record for nonsense stands on its own.

Looks like our o-line can’t block. Defensive line can’t pressure the qb. Secondary can’t defend. Receivers can’t catch and our offensive coordinator can’t call plays. Looks like we are improving.

My question is, with two teams that are relatively equal on the recruiting trail, how is there that big of a difference? That d line should’ve just stayed home. Quarterback play was subpar even with the dropped passes. Great kicker though!

    • Real Matt

Hard to blame Towles when oline doesn’t block. He looked good when they gave him time in the first quarter.

The problem is they play 3 more after that.

    • jame223
      12:00 am October 25, 2015 Permalink

Im not putting it all on Towles because there are a lot of problems there but he was still subpar. He had some times where the protection was there and he held on to the ball. He threw 3 interceptions one of which was called back due to a stupid personal foul on Miss St. We saw when Drew was in there that Towles is our best option but that doesn’t mean he’s beem real good. They’ve gotta find some ways to get the ball in the hands of their playmakers with some space on offense but if the defense continues to allow quarterbacks five seconds to throw then it won’t matter what the offense does.

    Hey guys plain and simple…
The coaching sucks!!!! they are very poorly prepared. The players on defense do not know how to line up. You saw our pathetic 2 minute offense last week against Auburn (who just got beat by Arkansas today).
I don’t wanna hear that we can’t get a good coach to come to Kentucky. They pay Stoops a boat load, we have great facilities, we play in the SEC and even though we are a basketball school we still fill all the seats.

    • Matt
      11:40 pm October 24, 2015 Permalink

Agreed that the preparation is terrible. There hasn’t been a single situation since stoops’ tenure began that I have ever thought to myself “that was good coaching “. And considering it has been 3 years, it is a big problem. Recruiting and coaching are two completely different things.

That penalty by Ramsey Meyers was so critical. That was A momentum changer again. Collectively as an offense we played in spurts and got rightfully whipped. Drew Barker can be added in on read option plays. That could be a heck of a wrinkle Dawson should consider.

its not because we lost to MSU that I think Stoops sucks. They are a much better team than us at home. It is how ill prepared we looked, totally disorganized. Calling a time out to ice your own kicker, just poor play calling, your defensive players looked so lost that the commentators were laughing about how they did not know where to line up

Its very concerning that the defense looked very unsettled and ill prepared. I do feel there will be coaching changes at the end of the year. Stoops has 1 more season to get it together otherwise he is gone. Matt Elam is not bad but has a lot of work to do. Miss St showed us how football is really played. My next prediction : Ryan Timmons transfers and TV Williams.

It’s coaching but with the great recruiting they have done.. which would you choose if you can’t choose both? There’s no doubt that this staff, as it is, does have major problems with in-game management.

Plain and simple,Stoops is a decent reruiter, but does’nt seem to have it as a head coach. His hires have been borderline horrible.Dawson is showing us why Holgerson did the offensive play calling at WVU.

Even if UK can get recruits for the next few years, it will never be sustainable…it’s always the same ole, same ole…..I always watch with false hope during the games knowing at any minute something will go wrong and well…it does. UK will never be much in football….and I hate that….just the truth here. Here come 5-7 or 6-6.

Embarrassing. DJ Elliot is a joke. Stoops makes millions. He is a deer in the headlights. Recruiting better but still near bottom in SEC and his coaching is comical. But the good news is UK will wear black on Halloween! That will make us bad ass!
UT will beat UK like a drum. So will Georgia. So will UL. Sorry if this makes me not a fan. But it’s the truth. I hope I come back in my next life as Mark Stoops. A millionaire because he is so good at …uh…
Well…. ???? Everybody happy with all our “progress” in football. Hey, sometimes we only get beat by a little bit. Yeah !!!!!!!!
