Here’s an adorable photo of Mark Stoops and Bobby Petrino greeting each other at today’s Governor’s Cup Classic in Frankfort. So you know, these two do not like each other. At all.

What do you think they’re saying?

    OK, maybe it is… GEZ!

Mitch Barnhart chose to skip Bobby Petrino who has 4 “10+” win seasons (UK as a program has 1 – 1950) and go with a coach who has never won a game.

Let’s all take the time today to thank Mitch Barnhart for increasing ticket prices, dumping a ton of cash into the program, and selecting unproven leaders instead of legends of the modern college game.

    More Petrino Stats…

    Wins   # of Seasons
    11+   3
    10+   4
    9+   7
    Losing Seasons = 1 out of 12 (5-7 1st year @ Arkansas).

So what if he wins,if we cant trust what hes gonna do outside of his job will be inside the rules he aint worth it we dont want no more “Kentucky Shame” cuz then winning wont matter

“if we cant trust what hes gonna do”…

And you think when Barnhart hired Cal (after skipping hi the 1st time for the same conjecture) that was irrelevant?.

Your position only highlights the inconsistency in Barnhart’s hiring practices… do whatever it takes to keep ‘my job’ when the seat gets hot (throwing ethics or the moral compass to the wind).

I don’t care how anything has worked out. I never wanted Petrino as our coach(then or even now). you could have told me how things have worked out now and I still wouldn’t change it.

      1:48 pm June 7, 2016 Permalink

Maybe he researched more into Cal’s situations and realized he wasn’t at fault AT ALL, so he decided Cal wasn’t a risk like the conjecture insists. But you research the Petrino situations and well…they are true so you know better than to hire a scum bag. Plus Petrino’s stats are mostly a reflection of how bad the Big East sucked when Louisville was in it, they aren’t really tearing things up in the ACC and aren’t in any national championship conversations except for their dumb azz fans.

    • GroundControlToNumber9
      2:34 pm June 7, 2016 Permalink

Booby Petrino – You said… “Wasn’t at fault”

Bobby Petrino has 0 NCAA ‘cheating’ inquiries, 0 games forfeited, 0 post season bans, 0 infractions that cause a program to be ‘damaged’.

Barnhart said “I’ll pass” on Cal in 2007 for THESE very reasons.

Your judging Petrino on strictly off the field action that doesn’t:
      1. Get your program the death penalty
      2. Cost your school millions due to the bans
      3. Create a decade to recover from
      4. Cause a fanbase to dissolve for an already step-sister part of your athletic department

But once Barnhart’s seat gets hot after hand picking Billie “Have Another Drink & My Daughter” Gillespie morals & ethics fell off the drawing board.

On the field infractions are A MUCH LARGER DAMAGING ISSUE than off the field especially when there was nothing Petrino did that was deemed by a jury or judge to be of significance.

People are injecting their morals while the AD flips back and forth on his. All the while people overvalue the one’s that don’t matter while the AD overlooks the ones that do.

Bobby Petrino: Cheat on your wife, look for better job opportunities.

      Mitch Barnhart:
      1. Hire a industry wide rumored risky person (with convictions) who wins (that risks the entire program) because you know you’ll be fired if this hire doesn’t work out.

      2. Yet, pass on someone in a secondary sport to the program (because your job isn’t on the line with it) even though nothing he’s done in a decade has risked the program of sanctions.

Inconsistent integrity is inconsistent integrity no matter how you decide to paint it.

Whoever told you that lied to you. Petrino’s stats hold sway in the SEC all day long:

      2008   Arkansas   5—7
      2009   Arkansas   8—5   Liberty
      2010   Arkansas   10—3   Sugar
      2011   Arkansas   11—2   Cotton

Petrino also has, to his credit, bailing on the Atlanta Falcons, interviewing with Auburn when there wasn’t a job opening, enjoying an extra-marital affair with a young woman that was at one time an Arkansas volleyball player, AND, last, but certainly not least, crashed his motorcycle with the young lady riding on the back then lied to his superiors about it.

Yeah, why didn’t we hire that guy?

There wasn’t real damage to the motor cycle, and the girl was not injured.

He got his butt whooped and tried to cover it up.

None of the things you mention will cause the death penalty to the program.
      Or have titles taken away.
Or have games erased from the history books.
      Or will destroy a program.

Besides, if off the field morals mattered… why hire Billie Gilliespie OVER Cal in 2007?

    • J-Dub421
      3:08 pm June 7, 2016 Permalink

BCG had no infractions of any kind in 2007. None.

You keep comparing Petrino to Coach Cal. The difference is Petrino himself committed his numerous indiscretions. Cal did not commit the infractions that got UMass and Memphis in trouble. Marcus Camby took money from an agent as a junior in college. IF Derrick Rose had someone else take his SAT or ACT, then how would Cal have known about it when he was coach at Memphis several states away?

J-Dub421 – You said… “BCG had no infractions of any kind in 2007”

You don’t know how to read.

      My point was:

BCG had off the field issues that make one question the integrity of the person as well as rumors of in the program issues (known to be questionably hard on players at T A&M).

Yet Barnhart hired him… yet refused to hire Petrino.

I never compared Petrino to Cal (again you don’t know how to read). I ‘contrasted’ them.

    • J-Dub421
      3:35 pm June 7, 2016 Permalink

I had heard zero rumors about BCG off-court prior to him coming to UK. Maybe they were out there, but they certainly weren’t widely known.

Contrasting is simply a form of comparison, now you’re just parsing words.

J-Dub421 – You tell “your story” however you want about Cal.

The only thing that ‘matters’ is what the NCAA rules. As they control who is recognized as the official holder of the titles. ALL THAT MATTERS.

Bobby Petrino has never had any NCAA issues. <– Barnhart wouldn't hire him
Had some off the field issues.

Billy Gillispie has never had any NCAA issues. <– Barnhart hired him
Had some off the field issues.

John Calipari has had multiple NCAA issues. ethically questionable).

The only thing that ‘matters’ is what the NCAA rules. As they control who is recognized as the official holder of the titles. ALL THAT MATTERS.

Bobby Petrino has never had any NCAA issues.
Had some off the field issues.
      – Barnhart wouldn’t hire him

Billy Gillispie has never had any NCAA issues.
Had some off the field issues (multiple DUI arrests in Texas, abusive to players in Texas, sleeping with female students in Texas)
      – Barnhart hired him

John Calipari has had multiple NCAA issues.
Never had off the field issues.
      – Barnhart hired him

So Barnhart’s history shows he will hire people who have questionable character ON & OFF the court/field. It just depends on if Barnhart’s job is on the line as to whether he’ll forget about integrity.

The lack of an ethical backbone of our AD is the concern. He’s inconsistent and for all the wrong reasons (his own protection).

Based upon this and Barnhart’s reasoning for not hiring Petrino… with Barnhart’s own logic he wouldn’t hire himself (unless his job was at stake and he thought that the hire would protect his job security even though it would be clearly – ethically questionable).

It isn’t “my story” about Cal. I don’t know why you think it is.

You hate Barnhart and Stoops. We get it. You’ve made that very clear repeatedly in recent weeks. Tell you what, put in your resume to become our next athletic director since you know everything.

    • GroundControlToNumber9
      3:58 pm June 7, 2016 Permalink

Why can a Coach’s integrity be questioned based on his past yet an Athletic Director’s can’t?

AD’s historically get less scrutiny than coaches typically because people think coaches are the problem when things go wrong.

If you want to weight one “integrity lacking choice” against another then go ahead. It doesn’t change it. If what we’re talking about is decisions based on ethics & morals (what Barnhart’s presented as his dilemma with Petrino). It’s all steaming like horse crap.

J_Dub421 – You said, “You hate Barnhart and Stoops.”

      Not true.

Stoops wasn’t the best man for the job (as in not even close) and Barnhart indulges in hypocrisy.

AND… our football program will continue to under perform under Barnhart’s watch. Yet now, money is being dumped in (to protect Barnhart’s ‘pick’) when Joker was fired with the same record after 3 years.
