Can we get these concession prices at Kroger Field?

Declining attendance figures have plagued college football programs across the country. Kentucky’s 2018 success reversed that trend locally. For those who can’t reel off a ten-win season, programs are seeking alternative methods to bring in fans.

This fall Louisiana-Lafayette is introducing a new “fan friendly” menu. Dropping prices around the stadium, Ragin’ Cajun fans can enjoy a cheeseburger, pretzel and two beers for $10.

A self-proclaimed cheapskate, this is exactly the kind of marketing that would put my butt in a seat, especially if ice cold alcoholic beverages are added to The Kroge this fall.

I am not sure the UK budget people want your butt in a seat if you are only willing to pay $1 for a hot dug. That means you probably don’t want to pay more than $10 for a ticket.

Unfortunately, I can’t see UK or any major college lowering prices like that. I am guessing Louisiana-Lafayette is doing that to get butts in the seat.

If you look at the Atlanta Falcons, they have lowered concession prices to more “fan friendly” prices (two years in a row they’ve lowered prices) and their concession numbers have increased. They’ve found that people spend more when they don’t feel they’re getting robbed. Plus you’ll get those folks, who never buy something, to start getting concessions.

This is spot on – the Falcons are getting this right. You get people to come to the stadium early to have a few beers and a dog. Also, given the margins, you’d rather sell a guy 3 beers for $24 than one for $12.

Every market is different, but it makes sense to lower prices in most cases.

If we can get the boudain balls, I would probably go to at least 3 games a year.

Given the sponsor Kroger ,they should be able to do this successfully & still make decent profit margins . Their (menu) food items are cheaply priced
