After a spectacular season, C.J. Johnson has accepted an invitation to play in the 90th East/West Shrine Game. The KSR Podcast’s Defensive MVP was a pleasant surprise in 2015. Known mostly for his potty humor, C.J. wasn’t expected to be a hellraiser on the DLine, but he put up some incredible numbers and made some highlight reel plays.
#67 had 67 tackles this season, the most impressive came during a two-game stretch that consisted of 30(!) total tackles. 30 tackles in two games is impressive coming from anybody, but even more so at defensive tackle, a position where players aren’t primary playmakers. Johnson led the Cats in tackles for loss with 8, but his biggest play wasn’t a tackle, it was this interception, the KSR Podcast’s Play of the Year.
The East/West Shrine Game will air on the NFL Network at 4:00 on January 24th from St. Petersburg, Florida.
