Bud Dupree will skip rookie minicamp for graduation

Bud Dupree has a scheduling conflict on Saturday…

Up in Pittsburgh, his new home, he is supposed to be at the Steelers facilities for rookie minicamp. That’s a pretty big deal for the team’s first pick, as you can imagine.

But back in Kentucky, Dupree’s diploma will be waiting for him on stage at UK’s graduation. Dupree promised his mother long ago that he would become the first person in her family to graduate from a four-year institution, a promise he’s kept.

So the decision is an easy one…

Bud will miss Saturday’s minicamp to walk across that stage as a graduate of the University of Kentucky.

Don’t worry, though, Steelers fans. Your prized first-round pick will fly back to Pittsburgh immediately after graduation to join the team on Sunday.

Wonder how many UNC football players can spell “graduation”. Speaking of which – haven’t heard anything about it lately. Sounds like Emmert and the NCAA have done a bang-up job sweeping that one under the rug.

It is OUR job to ensure that does NOT occur. This is one item UK and doo kuh have in common.
