BTI’s Rants and Ramblings: How Much Better Were Neal Brown’s Offenses?

It is somewhat difficult to know where to stand on the departure of Neal Brown.  On the one hand, the offense was certainly better the past 2 years than in the final 2 of the Joker Phillips era.  But much of that was due to an increase in talent that Mark Stoops has brought in and improved quarterback play.  I think many fans were not thrilled with the playcalling towards the end of the year.  So I thought it might be good to look at Neal Brown’s tenure as a whole compared to where the offense was after the 2012 season.  Plus it gives the fans a chance to see where the offense is right now and what kind of expectations we should have for the next guy:

Looking at who Neal was supposed to be and what Joker really was that is no where close to being all that much better. Didn’t like him coming in and glad he is gone, just like I felt about Joker.

You can pick and chose stats to reveal what you wish to believe. The facts are that UK had the weakest schedule they have had in years. With 3 cupcakes and the weakest SEC East division in history it’s easy for people to scream improvement.
