This Saturday at Neyland Stadium “Rocky Top” will play approximately 7,382 times. In order to prepare for the onslaught, the UK football staff blasted the song through the speakers at today’s practice, essentially recreating fire and brimstone in audio form.
The din will be deafening with 100,000 screaming Volunteers, yet some how, some way it does not bother J.D. Harmon.
“When you’re in the game you really don’t even hear it. It’s kind of tuned out because you’re so in tune with what’s going on in front of you that you really don’t hear it.”
I can not believe him. Not even for a second.
“Every team has their own little thing that either helps them or kind of distracts who you’re playing,” Harmon said. “But if you’re on the sideline hearing it, it’s annoying.”
That also applies to opposing fans in the stands and people with ears.
