Tough news out of Kentucky football practice today.

Following today’s practice, UK head coach Mark Stoops announced freshman quarterback Nik Scalzo’s injury on Saturday was, in fact, a torn ACL.

According to Stoops, Scalzo’s injury came on a non-contact play and was the same knee he injured back in high school.

The Kentucky freshman will have surgery and miss the entire 2019 football season.

I’ve seen a lot of talk about this kid. I admittedly don’t really follow football, so I don’t really know his worth. Was he expected to eventually be the starter in a year or two? Hate it for the kid though, hoping for a speedy recovery.

Man hate to hear that for the young man. The staff shouldn’t rush him back. Give him a year and a half to really get that knee together and for his future health of that leg. Hoping for a speedy, yet 110% recovery to compete for the starting job Spring 2021

Since classes havent started could he possibly leave UK, rehab, come back and still have 5 years to play 4? Not likely but something to think about. Or did he enroll in January?

Just horrible news. I only hope he subscribes to the saying “what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger.”
