Bowl Projections after Kentucky’s Beatdown of Louisville

After last night’s butt whipping of Louisville, Kentucky’s bowl picture is coming more and more into fruition with a trip to the Sunshine State looking like the most likely option. As of this morning, here are the most up to date projections with more still to come throughout the early part of this week:

[SB Nation]- Citrus Bowl vs. Penn State

[CBS Sports]- Citrus Bowl vs. Penn State

[Bleacher Report]- Citrus Bowl vs. Northwestern

[Sports Illustrated]- Music City Bowl vs. Boston College

[College Football News]- Outback Bowl vs. Purdue

As much as the storylines for the bottom three might excite me: A rematch with Northwestern, the “Patrick Towles Bowl” in Nashville and a game against Jeff Brohm, the game against Penn State would excite me. Just having the chance to knock down a true blue blood in college football would be huge for Mark Stoops and this program.

Music City?!?!? A 9-3 team in the Music City or Outback?!?! It better be Citrus

Outback is a good bowl, but I’d prefer Citrus. Music City would be laughable after the season we’ve had.

Next Sunday. After the Conference winners are determined and the Playoff Committee meets to select the 4 best teams.

Music City Bowl?!?!?! Are you frigging kidding me?!?!?! Northwestern again?! Pft. Only reason they won last year was because Benny was tossed for hurting someone’s feelings. Purdue? Seriously?! What an insult. Penn St is easily the best selection

Is sports illustrated even paying attention? No wonder the only thing they’re still good for is the swimsuit edition.

F you sports illustrated. Music City Bowl? Re-Match game vs Northwestern and give Northwestern the same officials!

Some of the writing on this site makes my head hurt. A lot of the writing does, actually.

A 9-3 team in the music city bowl lol gtfoh

  9. I don’t think it qualifies as the Towles Bowl since Paddy Ice is no longer there.

Forgive me for being ignorant but how are we ranked behind Florida in the east when we won head-to-head?

I’m seeing different sites that have us ranked ahead and behind them…

With the tiebreaker from the SEC, head to head is the first tiebreaker, therefore we are technically ahead of UF even though our record is the same.

You’re not ignorant, some site is. KY is second by virtue of beating FL. ABSOLUTELY no question.

Because Florida is a better team right now. Mark Stoops teams don’t progress as the season progresses.

You have to think with the current projections, if we had beat Tennessee the peach bowl could have been the most likely for us instead of Florida.

What was the score of the Bama vs UL game?
What was the score of the ND vs Vandy game?

If they go to Nashville after clearing 46 on UL, the system is seriously broken. (Of course it is broken, but i mean BROKEN broken). Just as ND has no business in the CFP, UK has no business being relegated to Nashville

Those are great points. I think Sports Illustrated has its head up its rear on this one. Just too lazy to actually do any work whatsoever. All the bowl people have been talking about us in the Citrus. As a “basketball school” the interest in our game will be high. People will be attracted to the novelty. Plus there is a history with Penn State. Granted, it’s somewhat ancient history…
