Bowden: “It’s more than football that they teach at UK”

The transformation of Lynn Bowden happened before our eyes while he was a student-athlete at the University of Kentucky, and before he runs off to the NFL, he wants people to know he is grateful for his university and his college football program.

Bowden called in to Paul Finebaum (or they called him, I presume), to say, “I had to learn patience… I learned that the guys there, the coaches they got there, is the perfect fit because they’re building young men from the ground up. Look at me, I came in immature, young-minded, and now I’m a grown man. It’s more than football that they teach at the University of Kentucky. They prepare you for life outside of football.”

What a great tool for recruiting, but more importantly, what a great testimony to know we have a football staff that cares about the players as people, just like the bball staff does. The move to bring Freddie in for the reason they did was a testimony to that fact.

    Excellent post Drew.

His 180-degree transformation from young kid with an attitude and ego, but tons of talent to grown man, and father and Hornung-award winner was absolutely incredible. He is the example this program can look back on for decades in both recruiting and development. Along with Josh Allen and Benny and others, they have truly changed the culture in Lexington. I’m so proud of those guys.
