Stanley "Boom" Williams signs with Toronto Argonauts

Former Kentucky running back Stanley “Boom” Williams has a new home.

It slid under the radar when it was announced a few days ago, but we now know that Williams has officially signed with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.

After going pro in 2017, Williams went undrafted, but latched on with the Cincinnati Bengals for a brief stint. He then signed on with the Denver Broncos, but never earned any reps in a real game.

With the Argonauts, Williams now has the chance to continue his professional football journey with hopes of eventually making it back in the NFL.

Congratulations to Boom!

Should have listened to the coaches and stayed in school.

It wouldn’t of helped, he was losing reps to Benny regardless

Stuck, I concur. We all knew it was the wrong decision. Now that Freddie Maggard is back with the program, it is my sincere hope – and ‘hope’ should never be any component of a project plan – that these young men and women on scholarship are required to take at minimum 3 courses on the following life disciplines:

      1. Decision science
      2. Personal finance
      3. Professional responsibility

Wasn’t really losing reps as much as being a 1-2 punch. He would have really helped last season because all we had was Benny. No one else stepped up so it could have helped him.

Love the pic of the coaches in evaluation mode. Statistics are astronomically important. But a coach’s ‘know’ from a look and see watch party is key. Hope they get their fill of watching and evaluating.

As KENTUCKY grad and fan, I’m most proud of the trails blazed by this great program. There needs to be an expose by KSR. Most fans have no clue.

  3. CanadiAN, not CanadiEN, except for the Montreal hockey club.

I hope Boom can improve his blocking and receiving skills. It’s a pass happy league.

Anyway, congratulations Boom! Go win a Grey Cup! And have some poutine for Shai!
