Kentucky running back Benny Snell bruised his ribs against Eastern Kentucky, but the sophomore has not missed a beat.
After briefly missing time to get x-rayed during Saturday’s game, Snell returned to get 103 yards on the ground. It was just the sixth time in his career he’s rushed for more than 100 yards. After the game Snell said he was, “Gucci.” Stoops was unsure earlier today how he would be able to manage the pain but was pleased to report Snell participated in today’s practice.
Snell’s presence is important to establish a running game, but it’s arguably more important in pass protection. The most difficult concept for running backs to learn, Stoops lamented the poor pass protection from Sihiem King and A.J. Rose during tonight’s call-in show.
Two other injury notes Stoops shared on the call-in show: Bunchy Stallings has recovered completely and practiced today. Jordan Jones did not practice. One of the best tacklers in the SEC is considered “day to day.”
