“Benny and Badet” is your new favorite song

Someone answered the call and recorded “Benny and Badet” to the tune of Elton John’s 1974 class, “Benny and the Jets.” The song is, of course, a tribute to two of Kentucky’s offensive stars, Benny Snell and Jeff Badet, and it is surprisingly really good.

Now, how do we get this played in Commonwealth Stadium in two weeks?

The song was recorded and passed along to us by Jason Hardin, an instructor at Elkhorn Crossing in Georgetown. Strong work, Jason. I’ll be singing this all week.

Yeah, while it’s not the ONLY reason we lost, that play was unbelievable – No way a star receiver not only drops that but also allows the interception

He’s made big catches all season…… Some people only focus on the negative.

turner… it isn’t that we focus on the negative.. it’s that you absolutely have to catch that ball in that situation. he had a step on the corner and had an opportunity to score had he made the catch. i’m not saying we lost the game because he dropped the ball, but i’m saying we could’ve put the game away had he made the catch.

Badet is a better receiver than any of you are at whatever you do for a living.

what a ridiculous statement, david. is he a good receiver? sure. but that ball was right in his chest and he dropped it. i guarantee you that he would even criticize himself for not making the catch if he hasn’t already.

you all act like we, as fans, are not allowed to be critical of an athlete when they don’t do their job. are we critical of kickers when they don’t make extra points or “chip shot” field goals? have we been critical of Matt Elam since he got here? have we been critical of basically every position on the field at some point over the last few years? what’s the difference here? if he can’t handle a little criticism from some fans during college, how is ever going to make it at the next level?

I think a better song for Badet might be Snoop Dogg’s “Drop it like it’s hot”…

I agree that the drop and int. was the pivotal play in the Ga. game. But Jeff has been stellar and reliable during this run and ALL receivers occasionally have drops. Let’s cut him a little slack. He will have many more opportunities to atone. This team looked to have quit on the season after the third game but have shown a lo of heart and dedication. A senior class consisting of only 8-10 seniors is not really a strong recipe for success. This has taken longer than any of us would have liked, but it is what it is. As much as I was appalled at our teams performance at the beginning of this season I am ecstatically pleased with our turn around. No it is not what I ultimately want but it now shows much more promise. Lets make a bowl game even if it is a minor one. The extra practice will pay GREAT dividends for next year. I truly believe this team will get “amped” up for any type of post season play and will put on a superb showing no matter where or who they play. Baby steps folks, after all we have only in the last four years invested in the football program like we needed too. While it galls me to no end that the nearby University of Cosa Nostra is having more success in football than us we must take it with a grain of salt. UK has not to my knowledge stolen and laundered charitable donations earmarked for academics to fluff up their athletic association like “The Black Hand.” has been doing for possibly the last thirty years (their version of “doing it the right way”) I will pull for the cats all the way even when they go to face a very very good Louisville team in James Graham Brown Cardinal Stadium (I think that is really who payed for it unknowingly) Go cats. and by the way I love the song..
