After a much-needed hiatus this weekend, the Kentucky football team will resume action this Thursday at 7 PM in a pivotal game against Auburn.
Not only does Kentucky have a chance to significantly elevate themselves within the SEC, the game will also provide the program some valuable national exposure. Mitch Barnhardt certainly sees the merits of the situation, and spoke to Larry Vaught about his excitement for this week’s game:
These are unbelievable opportunities. The (TV) ratings are always solid. The better the game obviously the more ratings you’re going to get, but it’s become quite a Thursday night piece for a lot of folks who have sort of developed their Thursday nights around going home and getting dinner and watching the college football game. To be a part of that is fun. It’s a lot of fun,” Barnhart said.
Though there are some traffic/parking concerns, Mitch says that he hopes to add more of these contests in the future if all goes well.
It’s been said about pretty much every SEC game so far, but given the national audience and the bad taste left from the EKU game, a win this week would be HUGE for the program.
