The XFL may be a brand new league, but Austin MacGinnis gave his team and fans more of the same on Sunday evening. Kentucky fans know the former kicker for his legendary field goals, and now the Dallas Renegades fans may have that same pleasure. The team had their first game Sunday night, and MacGinnis scored the first points in Renegades history. His 32-yard kick gave Dallas a 3-0 lead over the St. Louis BattleHawks.
MacGinnis followed up his first kick with another one – this time, a 42-yarder to end the half with a 6-6 tie. He nailed another one in the third quarter. Through all four quarters, his nine points were the only ones on the board for the Renegades, who lost 15-9 at home to the BattleHawks.

This accuracy isn’t surprising for members of the BBN, who know MacGinnis as UK’s all-time leading scorer and the player behind a handful of big-time Kentucky wins. But in Dallas, they’re still getting used to Austin “MacGOATis,” clearly.

If MacGinnis keeps this up, surely an NFL team will finally realize what they’re missing. If all goes according to plan, MacGinnis may be kicking in a different league sooner rather than later.
