Auburn football fans hate Auburn football’s new hype video

Screen Shot 2015-10-07 at 11.46.34 AM

It’s not a good time to be a fan of the Auburn football program. Not only has the team severely underachieved after entering the season ranked sixth in the country, but the athletic department tried to salvage things with a new hype video titled, “This Is Who We Are.”

Fans are not pleased with the timing of the new video production and its message, released last week. And can you blame them? As the current laughing stock of the SEC and a team lucky to be 3-2 on the year, it’s not the best time to promote “This Is Who We Are.”

The video’s comments section on YouTube erupted with negativity. It has since been wiped clean and removed from the page, but Auburn’s 247Sports site has plenty of complaining.

Here are a few examples:

— “No dumb ass slogans… No piss poor dumb “Hype Videos”… ACTION. I want ACTION. I am freaking sick of all the talk.”

— We should just stop doing this stuff until we are actually good on the field.

— Auburn can take all the “hype videos” along with the big new scoreboard and put it where the sun doesn’t shine. I don’t know about all of you but I’ve seen enough videos and hype about the new video board. that crap doesn’t win football games. Sorry for the rant.

— I’m sick of them also. Sitting in the stands Sat, watching all this fluff. All I could think about is this team is 0-2 in the SEC and we r playing SJS. GEEEZZZZZ.

— Stupid hype video. So tired of these. I am truly concerned with Auburn’s PR / Advertising firm if that is the best that we can come up with. Always been concerned about our AD and his boy Tim Jackson ever since they took over. The obnoxious “Aubietron”, the dated stadium that needs upgrades, the cheesy slogans, the cheesy hype videos. Ready for our alumni donations and TUF money to be re-directed to better use.

Don’t you love a frustrated and exhausted fan base coming into what will be a hostile Commonwealth Stadium next Thursday? Star wide receiver kicked off the team, quarterback controversy, a long fall down the rankings, etc.

Stay right where you are, Auburn.

At this point you’d think we know better to knock a team until after the game???

How is pointing out that their fan base is upset knocking them?

The sad part is, our fans say the same kind of shit. And we don’t have anywhere near the historical success and tradition that Auburn has.

The funny part is, this is the team that beat Louisville quite easily.

Sadly, I agree. I am done with all the UK hype videos. We are lucky to be 3-1. When I see play on the field that lives up to the hype I might start paying attention to them again.

That “Hype” video was weak AF. We don’t need to count our chickens just yet… but if KY shows up Auburn might get a whippin’.

Not to mention a rumor going around on Twitter (has to be true right??) that there is a cocaine problem on the Auburn Football team. The timing for this game is working well in our favor. They are in a tailspin. We have to jump on them early and crush their spirit.

Someone needs to get Drew a grip on reality. “Laughing stock of the SEC and a team luck to be 3-2”. The hostile Commonwealth Stadium didn’t seem to bother EKU last Saturday night.

The YouTube page says this video was published on Sep 26, 2015, so how is this new, or released for Kentucky, for that matter? In fact, I’m pretty sure this played before both the Mississippi State and San Jose State home games.

I can’t get past the fact they used some little kid with a lisp to do the reading. Very irritating.

The lisping kid is either from, or at least referencing, the Chicago elementary school that did the class project on Auburn. That class’s visit to Auburn is the kids footage you see at the beginning of the video:

This was the video played before the Mississippi State game on September 26th. Get your facts straight! Also, there are so many lies floating around on social media about Auburn and I’m sure all of the SEC programs. When are you going to learn that you can’t believe everything you read as fact?

That video made me want to shuffle down a hand full of Prozac and chase it with a conveniently sized bottle of 101 (with a tear in my eye). Every time that kid spoke all I could think of was that damn “lost cat magnet”.

I don’t see why this is so upsetting, to be honest. Are only bona fide title contenders worthy of hype videos? It’s not as if the players themselves are cutting these projects either; regardless of the team winning or losing it is some staffer’s job to put these together. In other words, that individual can’t just arbitrarily decide when Auburn is “good enough” to warrant a video…it’s their job to make them in the hopes of generating interest. My question is, are Auburn fans upset that the team is getting hype videos in the first place, or do they dislike this video in particular?

Natedaddy is a fairweather fan extraordinaire. “I’m done with videos…blah…blah….3-1….blah.” Bro, we’re 1 possession away from a 5-0 record and have broken many streaks. What more can a UK football fan demand? Furthermore, UK Wildcats TV puts out brilliant content and works very hard. We’re privileged to have such an outfit representing UK athletics to the world.

I agree. UK hype vids kick way more ass than this one. Auburn fans expected a run at a title this season and now they’re all like 🙁 I think that this video, to Auburn fans feels like that pitiful, awkward look back that you get from a dog when he spots you watching him grind out a deuce. That’s why they hate it, plus it sucks.

It’s sad that UK fans say the same shit. One mintue their a fan, the next minute their not. UK is 4-1, 2-1 in the SEC. One play from being 5-0. For the past three seasons UK has been much improved, and more competitive. The record doesn’t show it, but if your a true fan and follow the CATS, it’s a different team.Coach Stoops has done an unbelievable job at UK. If anyone is to blame for UK’s struggling football program, blame the administration. Bc of Stoops they began investing in renevations, etc. I believe that UK is a rising football program, a program where CAT fans should be very excited about. This is a very young team, with a lot of talent. UK has a huge class coming in next year, 2017 class looks promising too. You can say all you want about them being inconsistent, etc. The fact of the matter is their competing, their competitive and resilient. A WIN IS A WIN. UK has a chance to go to a bowl and possibly with the help of other schools like FLA or GA losing UK winning go play in Atlanta. UK fans should be very proud of what this program has accomplished in 3 seasons, and excited about the future. So, stand up #BBN, get behind this team and pack CWS. Let’s Go BEAT AUBURN! #WhyNot #ALLIN
